Why should a liberal feel the need to explain this?
QUOTE]
Ok, I might edit the post to say, "please, liberals, share you thoughts". If I have to spell it out, my remark was a smarmy shot at how some here have bemoaned the white on black crime and have been silent when these situations arise. Is that a dick move? I can't even tell anymore.
Why should a liberal feel the need to explain this?
Personally I don't think there should be a hate crime designation; the punishment for murder or assault shouldn't depend on whether you're a racist or just jumped the dude for his pocket change, it should be considered and judged based on the circumstances of the case. And if there is such a designation it should certainly be applied equally regardless of race.
On that, we completely agree. Everybody keeps talking about what we need to do to fix the racism that exist. I don't care one way or another. If one wants to be racist, they should be free to be that. If one acts their racist feelings out to where it impacts someone else, then it's a crime. But the reason for the crime is insignificant. Hate crime? Isn't any crime a "hate crime" to some degree. Well, unless of course it's a love crime? Those happen all the time.
