An article on wral or n&o said some assistant coaches were being punished regarding the shoe issue. There was also a rumor that the coaches here during the shoe-stuff were not immediately having their contract extended out a yr, as is customary.

The shoes were sold in Jan, so that probably excludes Thig, Gillespie, Paschall, Baker, and only includes Kap, Scott, Heck, Pap, Deke, Eckeler, Brewer.

We don't know what the punishment was, do we?

I wonder if this stuff has demotivated the coaches and that is partly why our recruiting has been so crappy this yr, and partly why the results on the field have been so up & down.

The issues with this team and program aren’t isolated to the shoe incident. I’d argue that it’s a hard sell for even the best recruiter with Fedora as our coach. Bad results equals apathy across the board over time.

Yep, the shoe issue was a symptom of the ailment, not the ailment itself. Our issues go far deeper than that. Radiation isn't working, nothing short of invasive surgery will cure what ails our program.

So nobody knows whether or not the coaches were punished and what that punishment was?

Does it really matter at this point? I don't think it does. Recruiting has been poor, regardless of whether or not it is due to decreased motivation on the part of our coaches. I do think the staff has to see the writing on the wall at this point.

Apathy has set in both inside and outside the program towards our football team. Fedora should have been gone after ECU game if we wanted to take a hard stance.

It depends on each individual buying into the Fedora Dream.

Think Todd Hoffman and Gold Rush. Todd could decide to save his dream by taking his team to mine in Afghanistan, and most of them would be giddy to get started. Because they believe in Todd and his dream to the degree that failure after failure means nothing to them.

It would satisfy my curiosity of why recruiting was so bad over spring. Even after the sanction-mired 6-7 2014 season we got some nice recruits. This spring it was zilch.

If the reason is that Fed is a jerk, why'd it take 6 yrs to have an impact? The reason could be the 3-wins, that is most likely, but most recruits indicate they are fully aware of the injury situation. Only other reason was the rise of NCSU, but as of last spring, had they really done much aside from having NFL success with their DL?

Comparing this spring to something like spring 2015, the ncsu and 3-wins don't seem to paint a convincing picture for the disparity, especially given the top-25 recruiting haul of 2018.

Recruiting has been poor, regardless of whether or not it is due to decreased motivation on the part of our coaches.
This is obvious, and i'm simply wondering why it was so poor last spring
I do think the staff has to see the writing on the wall at this point.
Of course they see it at this point, but i'm not talking about now, i'm talking about spring recruiting, when things normally happen. Did they see it since mid-Jan?
