Can't wait to have this young man in Carolina blue!

Coby White, Wilson Greenfield, 6-4, 2018

The UNC commit is simply wired to score and without question the best scorer in N.C. high school basketball. What separated Coby from his peers was the amount of energy and effort he displayed in all the station work and it carried over to the games. He averaged over 35 points per game and there may not be a better guard in the country at attacking and finishing at the rim. While he is one of the top players in the state and his national stock will continue to climb, Coby White is an excellent student and also high character young man.

All I think of is Joe Forte when he comes to mind. Bright future here for this kid.

Seems like it.

great news

So it appears he is more of a scoring guard so does this leave room for a PG to commit
I recall there was a tiff between White and Dotson at one time but is there another more traditional PG you guys are aware of on the radar?
White and Black as the 2&3 positions in the class assuming Black is literally growing out of the PG position
I love JB II but I really prefer a scoring 2 as a capable scoring PG but focused on setting up the team and creating offense via the pass and or drive

How was VT able to sneak in and get commits from 3 of the best already? BTW, just read an article where Leaky said Roy was recruiting him as a PG.

So this is really interesting to me. The only snag is Hamilton, who plays the 3 also in 2018. If we bring on Dotson, we've got a huge logjam of players 1-3 when we add in Jalek.

If we roll Leaky at 6'6'', White at 6'4'', Hamilton at 6'8'' as our 1-2-3, that is size that no one can handle in the backcourt.

I'm fascinated at some of these lineups we could roll out starting in 2018.

I wouldn't necessarily say they're the "best". None of them were in the Top 100, and the top 4 are still on the board. Two of the three, Keyshaun and Kobe Langley, are brothers. Probably a packaged deal like the Martin Twins were. According to 247, they didn't have any other offers listed. Both are PGs.

The other was a 3 * 6'7 Center. These are usually the guys that go out of state anyway.

I'm very intrigued at the prospect of having a 6'6+ PG. Could see him playing some 2 or 3 as well if he keeps growing.

agreed and if I am not mistaken I would expect Senior Kenny Williams / Sophmore Platek / Sophmore Jalek Felton

and coach is recruiting Romeo Langford which is a OAD shooting guard for 2018 class

Perhaps coach is slowly changing to 1 big with a Hybrid 4 and 3 scorers or he just wants some insane depth - either way I like the caliber of players in the mix and their scoring capabilities

That's what fascinates me so much. If we go with a lineup of 4 guys all between 6'4 - 6'8'' that can all slash and shoot it will be a lot of fun to watch.

Dont forget the juniors, Woods and Robinson. The change might be out of necessity. The advantage of having a Brice Johnson or Hicks at the 4 spot is predicated on getting that type of player. How many 6'9" in the top 50 actually want to play PF instead of hybrid 4/stretch 4/positionless are whatever the buzz words are.

I see that ESPN now has Black at 6-7 and a SF. If that's the case are we still going hard at Hamilton and what PG's are we looking at?

Roy is stubborn...4 and 5 will post up...not the 1, or 2...maybe in a great while the 3 will post...don't get hopes too high until games are played..RW ain't changin' too much

ROy might be adapting some to what he recruits? He seems to be recruiting more interchangeable multi positional guys in 18'.

The most interesting change might be a PG. Seems like instead of bringing in a player like Britt at 6'1" as the third string PG (last year with Paige and Berry plus that does not include 6'1" Stilman White) with Britt playing both guard spots, Roy is looking to have taller combo guards (Coby White, Felton) that have more size to play the 2 but can hopefully still play the 1. Even Woods at 6'2" has an inch on Britt if Woods ends up playing both guard spots. Add Rechon Black at 6'7", who will have PG skills regardless if he plays the 3,2 or 1, which could mean Roy can play 3 "PGs" at the same time.

Can't wait for Black and White to make beautiful music for the Tar Heels!]

What about Blake Preston though; are we getting involved?

Forte was a cancer on that team a lot of insiders have said he had a bad attitude ND didn't want to work hard. Came in with a humble personality and then got big headed. He rubbed Capel the wrong way Capel did handle so.ethings wrong. But the concensus was from most players forte was the issue not capel

We are no longer recruiting Dotson. Roy made a first come offer between White and Dotson and White was first. White has tweeted that he is a PG.

Which is fine. Seventh, White, Black, Felton (if he stays) will all be able to handle the ball.

I was told a coupe months ago that Leaky was officially 6'7.5" and expected to grow another 2" min. Keep on mind, expected is not a gurantee but is what his doctors expect will happen. I just don't know that he can play the point at that height, it has been done before, Livingston is doing it in the NBA but it is not the norm.

Hey, a little point forward would be awesome. Lamar Odom, Magic, LBJ. It would be a nice weapon to have.

i thought capel was the problem, not forte.

No, Capel was not the problem, truth is most of the problem was our coach at the time. Matt used Forte as the example of how to do things the right way and he used that against the rest of his mates. In doing so he isolated Forte from his mates and as the season progressed Forte began to believe he was the star and that the rest of the team needed follow his lead in doing so disreguarding the experienced leadership we had.

Then later part of the season Matt flipped on Forte because he was not working hard in practice, I guess everyone has heard about the infamous thrown ball at the head incident, ugly time, ugly memories. Capel more stood up for the team, that the team was more than just Forte, rightfully so IMO.

Oh, I agree, the question is can he do it? I don't know that answer...
Pinson has shown the value of having a playmaker at the wing (assists per game leader on the team) and he complements Berry well. I love the idea of Black running the offense in the half court but at a minimum Leaky should be able to have a similar role as Pinson as a playmaker on the wing.

So nobody knows anything about Preston? It seems he is growing and should be around 6'9"-6'10" by 2019 and he is rapidly going up the ranks. I haven't seen him play, but scouts seem to like his upside!

I have never heard of Blake Preston. I looked him up under 2019 but got nothing , but I don't know if you were calling him a 2019 recruit or what. Shed some light on this guy.

I had never heard of him either, but I read about him in the Coby article linked at the top. It said:
Blake Preston, Charlotte Christian, 6-9, 2019

Without question, this was a break out performance by Blake Preston. In the first game of camp, he poured in 39 points showcasing a nice arsenal of offensive moves. He has excellent hands and ran the floor extremely well. Tracking as a mid major prospect, don’t be surprised for high majors to jump right in and start recruiting him sooner rather than later. He has all the physical attributes and intangibles that will make him one of the top hot prospects in North Carolina this spring and summer.
