So... what happens if you show them plans/designs for a house that looks exactly like what they want it to look like, it gets approved, and then due to "builder incompetence" it happens to come out looking exactly like what you want. Do they make you tear it down?

if it could go up during the night, i’d sign off on that...in fact, i’d film it and show it here first.

Well, now you’ve peaked my curiosity. You say this is a mid century style, but doesn’t have a hip or gable roof, so I really want to see this house now. Since 95% of stick built homes these days have one of those, I am curious how this looks and why the HOA is having issues with it. Unless it is so far outside the box compared to other houses there I don’t know what’s got them hesitating.

Being in the south, I know a lot of developments are very leery of more modern architectural styles, since almost all have a traditional look and feel to them. Still, unless ours is really weird, I’m not sure what the issue is with them, especially if they have a relatively wide variety of styles there already

Dude, that is wild. I would love to see some pics when you can. If you can find any in he neighborhood that come close to yours, you’d have a strong case. Not sure it would matter though as these boards are often very arbitrary in their decision making. Heck, some make the NCAA look stable.
