The Q plays zone the entire game which could hurt Carolina's inside game and UNC is coming off a emotional win over FSU. Saying that could there be a major let down its just humor nature but let's hope not

With this team, who knows?

They've proven they can beat anyone (even UK now that Theo is back, I'll wager). And lose to anyone.

They've proven they can win back-to-back games against excellent teams. Or have a couple of crap performances in a row.

About the only real consistency they've shown this season is that they kick butt at home.

Sorry, Syracuse, you're toast.

Then again, there was that Tennessee game. And Syracuse wears the same colors.

Wouldn't be a surprise to come out flat with the quick turnaround. This could be one that outside shooting will be the key. If we're hitting 3s we run away, if not it could be a real struggle.

I posted this on the Tony injury thread.

Well, we traditionally struggle against zones and Syracuse tends to play them better than most teams because it's their go to defense. And they are holding their opponents to less than 40% from the field. So I'm a bit worried. I think we need to go inside early and often and exploit our advantage there. We're going to get some open looks from behind the arc but we can't fall in love with treys. That's gotten us in trouble a couple of times this year.

As for offense, they are a guard oriented team, with a young front court. Almost 40% of their shots are treys and the make 39% of them. So our perimeter defense needs to be solid.

There is no valid excuse for this UNC team to lose at home game to an unranked ACC team. Trap, flap, crap......whatever you want to call it.

Didn't we destroy someone's zone defense with some very nifty inside passing schemes last season, either late in the ACC Reg season or in the ACC Tourney? Dang I wish my memory for games was better.

At any rate...... Go Heels!! Beat 'Cuse!

Well, we did beat 'Cuse all 3 times we faced them last year . .

@ 'Cuse . . 84-73

@ UNC . . . 75-70

NCAAT . . . 83-66

I think with JB, JJ and Luke's outside shooting .. then add in Theo and JB and their ability to drive and create off the drive their zone may not be as effective against this team as they would like. We shall see.

is it a trap game if they win?...or just if they lose?...game has been on the schedule-its at home, no excuses plenty of seniors-one less home game/ACC game

Here is where having Theo back is HUGE! Best passer on the team.
It is important, Mike. Because we have to get the ball into the interior of the zone and not settle for quick threes. If we settle for shots they want us to take, we can very well lose this game. In two of the three games we've lost, we fell in love with the three and it cost us.

Our big advantage is our interior play and our rebounding. They are not especially strong in either of those areas.

Not sure why we needed Britt and Luke off the bench for Kenny and Hicks. Quite a step down, in both cases.

wow we have one legit scorer in the game right now (Hicks) and that's from 8 feet in. And Pinson is the only legit post feeding passer. Nobody who has a prayer of an outside shot. Can't go with this lineup too long.

We've seemed sloppy and slow, including slow closeouts on defense. Lulled to sleep by a fast start.

Cuse had hit 2 straight from downtown and at the 8 minute timeout UNC leads 20-17. Berry and Jackson both played the first 10 minutes without a break. Pinson already inserted into the contest.

Kudos to Meeks. 5 quick finishes right off the glass with perfect touch for 10 points. Heels lead 33-24 at the under 4:00 timoeout
