Yes. Lots of us. But not quite in the way you are thinking.

Exactly, and I'll go further. If you go up to someone and say, "I'd like a Coke, please." They're going to do one of two things:

1.) They'll give you a Coca-Cola.
2.) They will say, "We serve Pepsi products here. Would Pepsi be okay, or would you like something else?"

That's it. They're not going to ask you, "Which coke would you like? We have Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Dr. Pepper, Orange Crush, root beer, etc." Nobody will do that.

You are just being obstinate now.

If I were sitting at a football game with you, I would declare "Im going to get a Coke". I would then return with a Diet Coke, which is exactly what I will buy every time at a football game.

Or if my desk were next to yours at the office I would say "Cool, Im going across the street to get a coke and a pack of nabs. Do you want anything?" And when I return, chances are almost zero that I will have anything other than a diet something. And furthermore, my snack may or may not be a pack of Lance Toaschee crackers.

But if the situation were reversed and you asked me what I wanted, I wouldnt say a coke and expect you to get me a diet Dr Pepper. I would then specifically detail exactly the drink i want.

But you know all this already.

coke = cola , not any other flavor soft drink. That's how I was raised up. Generic terms for soft drinks were sodas , pops , drinks(pretty much assumed no alcohol). Chocolate was Yoo-Hoo or Brownie. There were many versions of orange , grape etc. (yuck) Roberson's Beverages an ENC distributor bottled Sun Crest in Orange , Grape , Chocolate and in the summer Peach and Strawberry. My go to drink is also Diet Coke or Coke Zero but I also love Diet Sun Drop as my citrus choice. It's got more twang then MD , MY , Vault etc.

It's a clear cola designed to taste like Pepsi with a clear appearance. It tastes slightly different though, and that slight difference is heavenly.
