Daily Drop: Ideas to Enhance Gameday Experience in Kenan Stadium

I haven't watched all the way through yet but this is a gem of a take so far....'make it look like football matters', and especially by way of recognizing the quality of football that has been played here and the football worth of so many notables. Many sanctimonious types will disagree with us AJ, but I loved your comment that it's a football stadium, not a 'citizenship' one. I might have a statue of Lawrence Taylor as tall as the Statue of Liberty hovering over the blue zone. Just kidding of course, nothing that ostentatious but you can believe that the best defensive player in the NFL EVER would get his due and then some on his college home ground if it was up to me...both out of respect and for its impact.

I am really taken with the 'make it seem like football matters' theme...there are so many ways that that can be physically expressed at Kenan without tampering with its vaunted beauty and character, and those many ways are bound to improve the experience and get fannies in the seats.

Hell, if Belichick runs the table this upcoming season, maybe in addition to LT, a statue of whatshername hovering over the opposite end zone would be more appropriate and the pub would be incredible. Make it removable, of course.

it will seem like football matters when coaches and players are fully invested -- which means well-coached fundamentally sound players giving 100%. if it matters to them, it will matter to us.

Lots of good ideas. As a former bad member, I will say this: the band is plenty loud, it's just that where they sit is why they don't sound loud. Visiting bands sound loud (to the Carolina side at least) because they are facing and playing directly at you. Our band plays "down the open field" and doesn't sound very loud to either side. Of course, seating the band on the visitors side would greatly improve the sound to the home side, but I'm not sure what "ideal" seating would be for the band. The acoustics in Kenan Stadium are not conducive to great sounds. There are open spaces at the Blue Zone end and between the lower and upper sections.. I'll guarantee you that if we had an enclosed bowl like many stadiums, you would hear a big difference in all sounds.
