Don't look now, but...

The LOM is the only coach that is playing inexperienced players. Oh, wait... We’ll, he’s the only coach who’s team has just played a ton of games in a short span of time. Oh, wait... Well, he’s certainly the only coach whose team hasn’t had much practice time lately. Oh, wait. Well, surely his team lacks depth. Oh, wait...

This guy is more full of shit than a Thanksgiving turkey. He’ll never admit to his shortcomings. To wit: failing to take advantage of the fact that he has the most talented frontline in the country, instead choosing to once again live and die by the three; failing to utilize what would be considered a deep bench by the vast majority of coaches; continuing to rely on “our talenting” other teams; failing once again to teach defense.

He is a shadow of the coach he once was and is paying the price for selling his soul to the OAD lottery. I’m lovin’ every minute of it.

Why...why...why...does any big go to dook to spend his one-and-done year chasing long rebounds on offense and slapping the floor on D?
As much as I despise that floor slapping crap, the rat's teams used to actually play tough defense. Even though it usually consisted of all five dookies hand-checking, grabbing, etc at the same time, it was effective. Since the LOM went OAD, he must've given up teaching D.

K-Rat has a way of convincing the parents that he is a God. Once you get the parents convinced that is 75% of it. Once he gets a kid on board, he treats many like dirt. Bolden was fool to come back another year.

IN recent years, duke is telling a kid that is already a big time NBA prospect, a kid that would be drafted directly out of high school if not for the 1&D rule, that they will prepare him for the NBA and get him there ASAP. This is exactly what these kids and their parents/advisors want to hear and it is being sung to them so sweetly by K, Capel, and James. But the promise is smoke really, they promise what the kid already has in most cases, no matter where he elects to go. BUT, for those few 5star kids that actually need their skills developed in order to really be NBA ready, as with Jeter or Bolden, they get nothing?

WoW, you take kids like Parker, Ochafor, Tatum, Bagley and you get them to the NBA after just that 1 season in college, WoW, and LSU got Ben Simmons there after 1 as well, so duke can do the same thing LSU can do, well whoopie. Roy gets kids that are very clearly not NBA ready and gets them to the NBA. The difference is Roy improves on what a kid has coming in, duke promises them what they already have and claims credit?

Duke is on TV all the time, they stay in the spot light so they have a great launching pad for a kid looking to go to the NBA ASAP, yeah and a lot of other programs, UNC being one, have the very same thing. They talk about how impressive that duke degree is, really, and you make how much headway toward that duke degree by spending a total of 2 semesters there and most of that time is with another local college or online classes? They are closer to a degree spending the same time at a local community college than they are getting a duke degree when they are 1&D.

This current duke team was supposed to be a super team, well actually the last one was supposed to be that as well (LOL), yet they can't defend a chair, outside of Trent and Tripster they can't jump shoot, pitiful free throw shooting, and their bench is not developed. If Bolden still wants to play in the NBA, he should really consider transferring right after the Christmas break and stop listening to the BS he fell for over last summer.

Watched the game in a bar, half dookies and half Heels. The most obnoxious dookie kept saying dook would turn it on in the last five minutes and win going away, they’re “just that good!” Even joking about getting a 40-0 tattoo.

They were livid and blamed the loss on the BC refs. We gave them hell when they lost. They all stormed off.

Loved it.

I heard they were all wearing "Depends" under their trousers!!!

Roy recruits kids who he knows will jel into what he preaches for the program and it certainly shows based on the character of our guys, I wouldn't want anyone different, especially our last couple of groups who have had such a great chemistry.

I think something also needs to be said about how Roy has not altered from his recruiting pitch, he has stuck to doing things the Carolina Way. He still preaches the same concepts of family, a team first mentality and how all his players are given an equal opportunity and chance. He has never put a kid above the program and never will.
Coach Williams will also continue to go into kid's homes and try to get to know their families, get to know who the kid is off the court and what he is like as a person as he build a relationship with them. As seen through the years, he even keeps visiting his recruits after they sign by going to their games showing them how much he cares about them and is rooting for them. He also constantly says how he checks the box scores every night to see how his former players did in the pros, what other coach is gonna do that?

He doesn't try to sell a fast track to the NBA or playing time, he is trying to get kids who want to learn and develop while also being apart of a legacy and a family that is truly special to be apart of while also molding them into great young men.

He gets the results he gets out of his guys because there is a mutual understanding and a connection between himself and his players. He is consistent in what he preaches and always has the team's interest first. And that is exactly why our guys buy in. Just look at the way our guys share the ball on the offensive end, sacrifice our bodies for loose balls and play lockdown perimeter D.

I'm gonna say it again and again, I will take TEAM first guys (if they are superstars like Hansbrough, Barnes and JJ that makes it even better) any day of the week because they are the teams that make the deep runs in March and ill take that one more step further I'll take our guys this year over any team in the country.

I love me some Roy Williams and the 2017-2018 Tar Heels!!

Yep. Bob Staak (former WFU Head Coach) had a GREAT line that agreed with you, "Duke plays great defense. Five guys fouling at once!"

Coach k’s strength is getting players to play with intensity. Thats why they usually play great d. Lately hes certainly had them more motivated than us when we’re head to head. Prob is u cant maintain that level he demands. And with great peaks come great valleys. Iirc their record coming off playing us is mediocre. Hes not a great x and o guy. When the intensity isnt there they are avg. Thats why they struggle in early tourney rds. Roy has unc playing not as intensely but at the same time on a more even keel imo. Thats the perfect set up for the ncaa tourney.

I'm pretty sure I saw Coach Kurse following Winslow's stats on a DSPN commercial. Maybe said "he's jumping like crazy" or something profound like that.

Without commenting beyond, one of the hardest things for freshmen to understand is what "intensity" really means. Oh, they can easily get jacked up for a spell, but freshmen rarely grasp that little bursts aren't enough. Intensity for 15 seconds of the shot clock or the first ball rotation ain't gonna get it.

Then there's also smart intensity. As our motto goes, "play hard, play smart, play together".

I think Garry Williams said something similar to that as well. Basically when all five dookies are fouling at once, the refs don't know what to do and subsequently do nothing.

Speaking of Maryland (not Williams), when WVU upset a very good MD team in the NCAAs a few years back that's how one of the TV announcers described the refs' dilemma with Huggins' defensive tactics. "How do you call a game when 5 guys are fouling 5 guys at once on pretty much every possession?"
