dOOk - Notre Dame

I think we'd have beaten Dook tomorrow, but I also think the Heels will be motivated for some payback in falling to ND earlier this year, and the hose job last year in the finals.

Plus (in a rational fair world) its always good seeing Dook lose, especially in a choking way, and it SHOULD drive their seed down to where they can get an early start on vacations and plans for next year. ie- "no second weekend for you!" o_O
K and Bullfrog Capel can start recruiting the next crop of one and dones.

As I mentioned in the other thread, funny how the doochies shed no tears for the two kids that Punkson intentionally tripped over the last month. Notice the touch foul he got in OT??? One of countless that he routinely gets, as well as the flailing out of control act he puts on for EVERY shot. What a WARRIOR!!!!!!!! That man hug from Vader???? man that had me choking up:D

Hose job in the finals lol?

ND ran UNC out of the building in a four minute stretch.

Relax Domer. You were the better team. Congrats. I can admit that. But you don't think the FT disparity in the last two meetings is even a little fishy?

Yeah, the FT disparity we have had against them scares me a little (70 to 28 I think, including 32 to 7 last year). I'm not sure why either. They aren't a team I would think would do that against us. I thought we would have beaten Duke more easily than ND. They seem to have our number. We need to avoid the big run from them. However, I always like having a chance to beat a team we have lost against and am sure the players feel that way.

ND out toughed puke down the stretch in regulation and in OT! The refs refused to give it to puke and Punkson couldn't adjust to a fairly called game. ratty has lead his men to 6 seed and I'm sure the talking heads will be calling for him to get coach of the year consideration. I guess he deserves it because he only has 5 warm bodies to work with!

K threw the game. He knew they would have no legs and did not want to chance another loss to the Heels. Would hurt the team more mentally getting run out the gym by a rival than an OT loss to a fresher team. Kinda like the snowstorm game. He does not want to give UNC any edge

I was halfway thinking that myself!

Didn't Duke play more guys than Notre Dame?
They played 8 to ND's 7.

But, but, but that's impossible. Did dook hold student tryouts this week or something? How in the world did they get 10 boards and 9 points in only 20 minutes from non-players Obi and Jeter? Amazing coaching job by the LOM!

Can we finally lay this "dook only has five players" myth that the LOM has been perpetuating all year long? Truth is, Obi probably wouldn't have seen the court and Top 15 big man recruit Jeter probably wouldn't have played more than 4-5 minutes if MP3 hadn't picked up his 4th foul early on. Those two would have gotten burn on almost every other team in the ACC.

The whining LOM has depth, he just chooses not to play them.

Anyone else think that Duke would have been a better team this year if they opened their bench a bit earlier in the season even if the guys where not up to the task at that time? Seems to me that they could have installed some confidence in those bench players and at the same time give them the experience they need to be able to contribute more in case of injuries or foul trouble.
Maybe they were lazy in practice, maybe did not follow K's game plan but to keep some really good players on the bench without any development guarantees that you will be running on empty at the end of the year or at certain times. Playing 6 men only is insane to me.
Contrast that to what Roy has done. We all cringe at times when Luke Maye is put in or when Kenny Williams takes a shot, or when Joel James goes in. But these guys can always be used when the team is hurt or foul plagued and when they come in they know their role because they have played it before.

Look how a guy like Jackson Simmons developed with playing time to contribute greatly at times when he was needed. Or how Stilman White played a much needed role in 11-12 end of season.

The Duke bench to me is worthy of such development in the first part of the season and I think they would be a better team now if K had done things differently.

My point exactly. Obi and Jeter are both more talented than James but barely get off the bench. And now they're unseasoned heading into the NCAAT, when experienced depth would ba an asset. That's all on the LOM.

You guys shot the same # of FTs as dook today and barely won. Refs have HANDED your asses the last two wins over the Heels. Some Golden Domer Dirty money has been lining the pockets of some ACC refs for sure.

I remember reading on here after the 1st Carolina/Dook how K was twice the coach Roy is, how K is the best coach in the game right now.
I sure am glad it wasn't Roy that gave up a 16 point lead to a Unranked team today.

In all fairness, we did blow a 15 point first half lead to this same ND team.

^^^^^ true & I bet if I looked back some of the doom & gloom posters on here probably blasted Roy for it.

No, we doom and gloomers were blasting the refs that night, and saving our ultimate ire for his poorly coached dOOk game.

Whatever they have done the narrative they have put out there works. ESPN even had articles about how exhausted and undermanned they are, which isn't really the truth. It works for them though and is kind of their thing. K is an outstanding coach. One of the all time greats. He makes a lot of excuses when his team loses at times though. He wants to control the perception and does for the most part.

They lost one guy to injury...how many teams this year, any year can say that? A huge percentage. What a joke.

Yes indeed. We've had many years with multiple players injured. Weren't we down to our 4th string PG in '12 when Butter went down to Cretin? And Stilman a former walkon to boot! The LOM hasn't had to deal with half the injuries UNC has had to during his tenure at dook.

I have had to LOL at the wailing and and moaning from the Lance Thomas Coverup college crowd that is just lamenting the loss of that STAR Amile Jefferson. Why WITH HIM they win it all These cultists haven't a CLUE what injuries are like. WE have dealt with major injuries to FAR greater players at the worst possible times. The list is too long but I will just mention a few names Walter Davis, Phil Ford ,James Worthy, Kenny Smith, John Henson, Tyler Hansbrough got his nose broken intentionally by some player.....WHO was that again??? never mind... just a few short years ago we lose Butter Marshall after being attacked by a cretin SOB and lost for the NCAA.

but AMILE........ man oh Man WHAT a tragic, cataclysmic Loss that is!!!!!

And had the doochie freshman not missed that chip shot at the buzzer, they would have LOST this game.

As for dooche, it never ceases to amaze me the excuses those ass clowns come up with for everything. Amile, K's back, can't drive in the friggin' snow. It is ALWAYS something with them. And seeing that sack of dog crap bear hugging Whiplash and pining on about how every dooche fan should be proud of his punk arse just about made me sick.

I have NEVER wished any physical harm on anyone, but if dooche plays some non-name scrub team from podunk in the NCAA's, I really hope that they have the basketball equivalent of the Hansen brothers who will pound his punk arse into the court.

I never thought I would see the day when a doochie could get me to despise them as much as Laettner and JJ did, but Whiplash has done it in one year.

Maybe all those burger boys on dook's bench don't get any run because they haven't mastered the basics of flailing and flopping. K has no use for such losers.
In all fairness, most kids aren't taught that trashketball in high school. It takes a real LOM to properly engrain it into a decent kid. Notice how Soolymon isn't half the dookbag at UM that he was at dook?

Coincidence? I think not. I was born at night, but it wasn't last night.
