Drake Powell to Stay in NBA Draft
Drake Powell's career at North Carolina will come to an end after one season, as the freshman wing made the decision to
I would guess EC and Ian would likely say the same thing and rightly so.Saw an interview with him (Drake Powell) on Twitter, and his comments about not getting to showcase his talent at UNC was not a good look for us.
Jamir Watkins has not withdrawn from the draft. He played in the combine scrimmage yesterday.Seeing rumors that UNC has made contact with Jamir Watkins after he withdrew from the draft. Can anyone confirm this???
I agree….Its not like he was on the bench getting 5 minutes a game…He had plenty of chances to showcase his talent…I wonder if Hubert is feeling like me with Ian,EC, and Drake…They all could have went elsewhere and I would have been fine…Wish him luck but no reason to make comment on showcasing talents. Every player feels that way I suppose. A better look to say thank you and prove your worth with your actions
You are right...I was seeing old information...now it seems we may be in contact with Boogie Fland?Jamir Watkins has not withdrawn from the draft. He played in the combine scrimmage yesterday.
I agree, it's pretty unbecoming but with that said, this was their college basketball experience that they put Hubert Davis and Carolina in charge of and maybe he was disappointed and felt let down.No need to shit on the program on the way out the door….I wish all 3 the best in the G-League…
No need to shit on 19-20 year olds for making life decisions without taking your feelings into account. Snowflake behavior.I agree….Its not like he was on the bench getting 5 minutes a game…He had plenty of chances to showcase his talent…I wonder if Hubert is feeling like me with Ian,EC, and Drake…They all could have went elsewhere and I would have been fine…

To me, I respect Drake for saying that, some things just have to be said. 6'5.25" 205lb freshman is thrown in to the starting power forward role for UNC? There is no way that was the right thing to do for the team or for the player. It wasted Drake for most of the season, it was uncalled for. Especially when you know NBA teams asked Drake about his lack of production, he told the truth and the truth may not always be what you want to hear but it is always what you should listen to.I agree, it's pretty unbecoming but with that said, this was their college basketball experience that they put Hubert Davis and Carolina in charge of and maybe he was disappointed and felt let down.
Just imagine growing up being a basketball player, teams start recruiting you, you are raised in North Carolina right outside of chapel hill you have memories of some of your idols talking about Carolina and family you commit and you get Hubert Davis and the funky bunch as a coaching staff.
We can candy coat this all we want it is as dysfunctional as a nut house in the Carolina basketball program.
There is a reason he can't keep players!
No snowflakes behavior from me…I am fine with Drake going to the league and I hope it works out…Why say anything about the program on the way out….Does that help UNC moving forward….Now that I think about it has Ian made a comment about UNC since leaving….I know EC hasn’t himself he has Big Momma and Brother for that…No need to shit on 19-20 year olds for making life decisions without taking your feelings into account. Snowflake behavior.
I think your margin for error is much less for a big man than it is a guard. In the college game and I think in the sport of basketball the real difference makers are the big men, the guys 6'9" and over. That is the advantage duke has had over us lately, they have got the big time 5 star big men, we have struggled to get the 5 star bigs, Wilson is a nice change in that but he isn't a center. The portal is great but the best talented big men come from high school recruiting because so many of them are able to be 1 and done never looking at the portal. Quick, name me the last big time center Hubert has brought in from the high school recruiting? Not many big time talented big men want to spend their freshman season setting screens for guards to drive thru and only rarely touching the ball.Recruiting 5 Star players is a waste of time. in 2025. Maybe one at best. Too young to make a difference. Spend the money on proven players.
It's 2025. They stay one year and are too young to make the impact you want in college.
Hell we won the conference and played in the NC the past 3 years.
Keep it up and we will be the Nebraska of college basketball because of ridiculous expectations.
