Duke and Kansas offer Matt Coleman

People seem to consider Coleman a pure PG. Some people don't think Frank Jackson really is. Others seem to think Jackson could be OAD. And while many think they'll land Quade Green, they are only in the hunt for him, not a clear leader.
What I find interesting is that Coleman recently declared his top 10. A few of us (like me) were sad to see that we weren't on that list. But I figured that boat had sailed.
But guess who else wasn't on that list? Duke. And Kansas. Both offered today. And Duke already has 3 predictions on 247.
Will Coleman stick to his list or amend it?
247 continuing to favor Dook and UK based off of their pure interest in a recruit alone. Lol, these "gurus" have no more info on recruits than we do.
There with ya on that one mikey, makes you wonder what is going on with them and Green? No offense to Coleman but I would not have thought duke would offer him if they felt they had Green locked in, so...Maybe they don't...
And Kansas recently offered Dotson?
Probably so. Then again, if you were betting, you'd probably do the same.
Duke and UK have a better shot than most of getting the kids they offer. UNC gets some of that favorable treatment, too. Maybe not as much as we did in previous decades, but we are still seen as someplace kids in a certain ranking range are very eager to have an offer from. Look at the Huffman predictions, for example. We offered 9/1. Five predictions for us on 9/1, 2 more on 9/2.
Wouldnt surprise me If Duke tries to get both Coleman and Quade to come play together.Even though I feel Shaka and Texas is in good shape.
They can try but they will not get both...BUT I would not mind if they did! Because one of them would have to move over to the 2 and that would throw a monkey wrench in to the Trent deal. And if no Trent at duke does that mean they are still a lock for carter? Package deals, package deals...
In some cases, perhaps. but I don't see anything suggesting this was the "offer he was waiting for". He didn't list Dook in any recent lists, and He seems to have built a good relationship with Texas, so I highly doubt there was any connection prior.
I'm not saying Dook has no chance, as Time can change that, but there is really no justification as to why Dook is suddenly the favorite IMO.
As for Huffman, he had zero predictions before our offer, but he had been linked to us prior anyway, which would be a logical prediction. Besides, usually when we get that "favorable treatment", it's because the guys that offered were mid & low majors.
Duke is a lot closer to his home than Texas so yeah, I would agree they would jump to the top of his list. But more interesting to me is this would seem to signal a weakening with Green which was a big hook in for Bamba. There is no way they offer Coleman if they feel they have Green locked in because you do not give Green reason to question.
Don't really know if location is much of a factor to Coleman, and considering he had Texas above any east coast school, I'm gonna go ahead and say it really doesn't. Just way too early to start naming Dook the favorite IMO.
I hear they think Green is looking hard at Syracuse. And Trae Young seems to be getting interest from Oklahoma as well (which is who I believe UK was in the running for). They're definitely looking for backups, which probably means they aren't as confident as they once were,
As of the Peach Jam, Green was all but done to Duke. Not real sure what happened since then to cause that to slip some, but it has. Green is feeling pressure from friends/family to stay up North.....plus he really likes Syracuse. Duke and Syracuse are battling for Green right now, but with family/friends pushing Syracuse, Duke wants to have a plan B in place. (thus the offer to Coleman).
Family and friends wanting him closer to home is a strong draw to syracuse.
Rose, word is Tre Young is now a lock for Ky and other programs are now backing off and going to plan B, no official statement.
Man, how strange, duke could end up with Coleman as their PG, not that he is chopped liver at all but he surely was not what the dukies thought they would get. Taking the 2 guard they just got could well cause Trent to elect that does not fit him at duke and that could well challenge their being able to snag Carter if Trent and Carter remain a package deal. Could duke really whiff on all 3? Many duke insiders now believe we lead them for Knox, could he be whiff #4? Yeah, I know, hard to imagine but these domino's are tilting in a strange way for the dukies, not nearly as clear cut as looked 2 weeks ago...
Green is def. looking questionable. Though I think O'Connell may be similar to Platek for us. Can't imagine him scaring away Trent Jr. He's suddenly got a pick to UCLA on 247, so maybe there's hope for that? Lol, highly doubt it though.
IMO, Carter will be at Duke regardless of Trent, but I think they get both. Knox seems to be up in the air atm, seeing that Duke fans are suddenly not so confident in him being a lock. Though I think they still lead with maybe FSU in tow, but our in home + potential visit could sway him.
well maybe if chatter has been that frank jackson may indeed plan to move on....and if he does and its before a decision is made, it is good to have the offer out and communication going.....hypothetically...jackson stays and green comes on or jackson stays and coleman comes on..........or jackson leaves and then yes both is possible maybe as they would both be in the same boat....seems like both would prob get more time w/o jackson around............id take either w/ a sophmore jackson=)
What ya sayin boogie is that right now Jackson believes he will be one & done and he could well be just that. But I can tell you as fact that this time last year, Meeks was entering this past NBA draft, it didn't work out that way. It kinda depends more on where or if you will be drafted. Where or if you will be drafted depends on the season you have and to an extent the season your team has.
nope, i didnt say that......................i gave possibilities that if he is thinking and it comes to fruition, that should be good for us, but then you are gonna need 2 guys coming on......but clearly id prefer a soph jackson and one of those kids
i dont either...i think his soph year will be him really getting pg skills tested as being "the" pg..........the coleman offer just is maybe backup for green...more so something may have changed w/ green????
Yes, the Duke staff does not feel as confident with Green as they did prior to the Peach Jam. Syracuse has made a strong push and many feel they will likely land Green. Hopefully, he makes his official visit to Durham and we may can sway things back in our favor.
They all watched the USA basketball team in the Olympics and were unimpressed by K's wooden, uninvolved demeanor. He looks ready to retire. Why commit to Duke now if you aren't sure you'll get coached by the Dark Lord - either because he has retired or because he's lost interest.
Just a theory.
That said, I fully expect Duke to end up with one of the top 3 classes in the nation. Again. And I don't really think he'll leave for 2 years. He wants to go out with 1100+ wins. Unless they increase the number of games teams can play per season, that record will almost certainly never be broken. And he just seems like the kind of guy for whom that's important.
How much longer will K be there could become a real question for duke recruits, if they win the natty this season, that could be it for him, he will want to go out on a high note.
and yes Coleman reduces list to 5 and of course dook made the cut.
