Durant to Golden State.

There going to be unguardable this year. Would have like to see him come east to balance the power a little some. Never been a fan of stars joining a powerhouse just to get a title.

Isn't there a non-zero chance that he hurts their ball movement and flow on offense? They are one of the only teams I can stand to watch in the NBA at present.

In all seriousness better deal for GSW Durant 2 x 54 or Barnes 4 x 95? No brainer.

I would say.
Definitely? No, not definitely but 99% sure he's gone. Dallas has given him a 4 year max deal at $94 million that I'm sure Golden State won't be able to match. The curious thing though is that they renounced the rights to match Ezeli too and shipped Bogut out of town. They have no legit 5 on the roster outside of Maurice Speights.

Definitely an upgrade but look what it could do to the bench. Livingston could be gone, also look at chemistry. Never can tell. Besides look what that season record got em this year.

Read today that they intend to keep Livingston. Shipping Bogut and not resigning Ezeli or Barnes. Harrison will get to finally show the NBA if he is a legit #2 option or if he is a true role player.

I would not just give the championship to Golden State. The Warriors still do not have anybody at center who can be a defensive stopper and more importantly are their enough basketballs to go around. Green, Thompson, Curry and Durant ALL WANT THEIR SHOTS AND POINTS. I can remember when Philadelphia had Dr J, George McGinnis, Bobby Jones, Cheeks and Lloyd Free, Doug Collins and Colby's dad Jelly Bean Bryant in the middle and they also was thought of as unbeatable and unstoppable team but again they also did not have enough basketballs for all of their scorers...

Wow. Gonna need some bigs. I'm telling ya, when u start messing with teams it can mess with mojo

I read that they have to renounce most of the rest of the roster. I really don't understand why and wasn't interested enough to read it 2x. The NBA and their salary caps can be confusing. It also mentioned that Bogut and Barnes were buddies and that Bogut could be headed to big "D" too. It said GSW really likes Bogut and would try and work out a beneficial deal for him.

With Durant, Curry, Klay, and Green on the court, pretty sure they're going to be able to get away with a place holder at the 5 -- and, as with last year, you can expect to see the lineup of death with Green at the 5 -- which is now even more insanely unstoppable with the substitution of Durant for Barnes. Injuries aside, this team is going to be virtually unbeatable in a 7 game series for the next couple seasons.

Chalk up another sport ruined by the almighty dollar. My interest in the NBA is now officially zero.

If this was about the almighty dollar, he would've re-signed with the Thunder. In the long run, he loses money by signing with GS.

I'm referring to the amount of money from TV contracts that allows the teams to pay the players astronomical amounts with the salary cap jumping this year to levels which are frankly ridiculous. I'm not blaming Durant to do as he wishes, I'm blaming the sport to ruin it for the overwhelming number of teams that are obsolete and make the league a farce in my opinion.

Mike Conley is going to make $130 Million

ONE HUNDRED THIRTY MILLION DOLLARS!!! for Mike Conley!!!!

Only time I watch the NBA is the playoffs and usually ONLY the Finals
This is one of many reasons why

I don't blame him for going there, he wants to win, and he'll do it by any means necessary. But at the same, I don't like these trends going on in the NBA.

When Patrick Ewing couldn't beat Michael Jordan and the Bulls, did he jump ship to Chicago? Or how bout when David Robinson got outplayed by Olajuwon? Did he leave for Houston? How bout Malone and Stockton? The Lakers could never beat the Celtics in the 60s, did Jerry West and Elgin Baylor try to join Bill Russell and John Havlicek for a super team?

Point is, I know Durant has been in the league awhile and he wants that ring, but it's a bad precedent. Westbrook, Adams, Kanter, and Waiters weren't enough for you? You blew it in the Conference finals, and now you're doing the exact same thing you criticized LeBron for back in 2010. The league is too top heavy as it is, now it's just going to get even more dull.

Once again note 2016 champion. Not being a labron homer. Just saying that was the thought this year.

Not that my opinion matters, but this shows a lack of heart on Durant's part. They had GS down 3-1 and should have won in 6 games. Some poor play by Durant led to the Warriors coming back to win the series.

Old saying "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!"

Yeah, the NBA salary cap is a soft cap. You can't go over to sign someone not already on the team, but I think you can use the mid-level exception and veteran's minimum exception to bring in new players over the cap and of course, you can exceed the cap to resign your own players (aka "Bird" rights). I'm sure they will have PLENTY of people standing in line for the veteran's minimum to chase a ring. Livingston, I believe, will be their "mid-level exception" signing.

It's easier than ever to jump around from team to team the "back in the day guys" didn't really have that option. The other point is there just isn't any team loyalty any more everybody seems to be all about their individual legacy. I don't like the trends going on in CB either.

First off, I don't blame Durant, it was his decision to make and he made it for his own reasons.

BUT, players interviewing teams rather than teams deciding what players they want, who is running the show? You now have players that decide what the coach can and can not do and you now as well have players becoming the defacto GMs as well? Players are forming their own teams, having the coaches fired if they don't like how he coaches, and telling GMs who they can sign... And those kids coming out of high school see this, they want to copy it, so they package themselves together and tell the college coach if you get me you take me and my buds. And when you get us it is for one year only, you will need to run this type of offense and Mr coach, if you need to have an opinion we will give it to you, other wise shut up and stay out of the way.

The inmates are running the asylum...

It may be great for the individual players but it hurts the sport over all at every level. To me it shows a lacking in fundamental principles like loyalty to school, team, and city. The love the fans galvanize for the player becomes nothing more than a tool to be used and once used thrown away. Yes, the individual players do want to win titles and fans love titles being won but they win those titles for their own personal resumes, they will give lip service to the fans but that is all it is. In the end they know they can just trade one set of fans for another and the jersey they wear means nothing more than any other shirt, their sneakers mean more to them than their jersey does or did, or will in the future. They should take all the names off the front of their jerseys and just replace the names with $$$...

Good for KD. I can't wait to see him lace it up in Golden State. There are so many reasons why guys move teams in the NBA. All the hate is ridiculous. Of course part of his motivation is to play for a team that has a great chance of winning games and championships. Imagine if people blasted you on the internet and questioned your decision each time you left for a new job. We all take new jobs b/c they pay more, have better benefits, better work / life balance, and more stable/successful companies. You won't find a lot of people these days that work at the same company for 9 years.

"**** dude, I can't believe Mark left the IT department and took a new job. Let's destroy his stapler"

Your point is moot. They didn't have this type of freedom back then in free agency. They gained a little more freedom in the late 90s, and then even more with the subsequent 2 CBAs (and one lockout).

Malone did try this with the Lakers along with Gary Payton.

Olajuwon tried it as well, bringing in Barkley and Pippen (and Drexler before that).

So to say it didn't happen isn't entirely true. It wasn't really possible. But in the instances where guys had the chance to go get rings, they tried. Multiple guys. Multiple stars.

I would give the championship to Golden State. They're 2/3 in Vegas - this has to be the first time in the major 4 sports in modern history that a team has been better than even money to win the championship before the season started. Like others, I wouldn't blame Durant for this - this trend was started by Lebron wanting to join up with his friends so they could teach him how to win a championship, and now the owners have perpetuated it in the recent CBA. I don't blame Durant at all.

Yes there's a lot of star power on the Warriors now, but all of those guys seem to have egos that mesh well with each other. I think they all would prefer to win a championship as opposed to get top notch stats. That's what sets them apart from the Philly team you mentioned, and that insufferable prick, Lebron.

I for one am happy with this move. It accomplishes two things for me: 1) it's obvious the Warriors will win the title this year, so it saves me (and everyone else) the trouble of having to watch the season this year - we already know the outcome, and 2) it prevents Lebron from winning a championship this year, and if Durant stays, probably for the rest of his prime. Two birds with one stone.

Probably a good time to lay some money on the Cavs or Spurs if you're so inclined. This far from seals the title and no reason to expect the Cavs not to coast to the finals again.

I think most of the hate is stemming from the fact that he left an already good team capable of making another run to the team that just beat him, making him look weak. I agree with you though. The dude can go wherever he wants.

Still we be killed on the boards....and in the paint.....KD at the 4 in small ball will be interesting. .. still can switch against them on defense and sucker them into taking 2s.....But there will be times they look scary.

What if LeBron is a Knick? ;)
