Could be a huge addition to next year's team.

Will it happen? Meh...

Sauce?

Edit: TOS.

Awesome, this would be a game changer for next year.

I think Duke gets this one too.
As if there is enough shots to go around already with Jones,Reddish,Barrett and Williamson on the roster and that's assuming Duval,Carter,Bagley and Trent go to the NBA. Where is he playing center?

I had heard this was coming but I held off posting. Hubert has made more than one appearance of late down here at Wheeler and I was told that Hubert had indicated to folks there that UNC vetted EJ out, liked what they saw, and it was just a matter of Roy giving the go-ahead for the offer (as is normal for us).

Months ago I had my doubts about EJ and his fit at UNC and said so. Back when he was an Auburn commit his reputation (deservedly to be honest) was that he was "soft" --- yet another of these skilled 6'9+ guys who thought he was a Wing. Granted, he is an exceptionally skilled passer for his size and has a decent southpaw stroke for Stretch potential. That being said, I am revising my assessment. A guy I know who is close to that program has been effusive recently as to how much more rounded his game has gotten, and sure enough, he has been displaying some serious Post chops this season and working to belie that soft label.

EJ is playing above his ranking and AAU rep and having a big senior season. So, what are our chances? Well, after the recent junk I've seen go down around the ATL circuit recently, and Capel lurking around, I'm not even gonna speculate. All I know for sure is he really wanted a UNC offer. Will that mean anything? I dunno. Love to have him though.

Henson ish.

I think he would be a good addition, but he'll need to bulk up if we are thinking about him in the post. As a stretch 4, he looks really good.

I was worried that he might be tainted by the scandal. I assume we are now sure he isn't.

Dook bound... they’ll sell him on being a OAD, being part of the greatest recruiting class in history, being a part of the fab 5,replacing Bagley and helping K win one last championship. Needless to say, their pitch will be much different than ours. They will sell the OAD route and promise playing time... Roy will not and I’m okay with that.

Pretty strong pitch, to be honest.

You went out on a limb, very brave of you.

I would absolutely LOVE him to come to UNC as we desperately need a 6'10" beast. And he would definitely enjoy the UNC experience as I did, but I continue to favor Duke over UK over UNC. Sorry.

Duke lock..hearing that the is enamored with playing for Duke. I feel sorry for Bolden and the other players that K suckered into staying around. Look for a commitment very soon after he makes his OV there soon.

Meh dook bound if not dook it's UK of not UK it's KU it will literally go that order we won't be in the picture unless the FBI releases it's findings and says dook, UK, and KU are all named in their report. Even then Nike will make sure he goes to Oregon who all of a sudden is a recruiting hotbed out of nowhere

Kids these days only want a UNC offer so they can say I got all the blue bloods to offer, and aren't even seriously considering us. If he joins great but not getting sucked in like I did on Wiggins. I didn't get sucked into Zion and so when he picked dook I was only shocked because I thought it was clemson, or KY

Duke already has their 4 with Zion and K does not play a deep bench, not so sure he is duke bound. You don't usually see Roy make a late offer like this, there is a feeling we have a much better chance than you guys seem to think. Considering how our front court at this point would tend to be very inviting for a kid looking for PT while both duke and Ky seem to already have what they need (Ky may only lose Knox out of their front court).

I've heard this story before.

I’ve learned through the Zion recruitment (among others) that nothing in recruiting is a sure thing, but Duke is confident with EJ on our side.

Kids these days are f-ing lame. No one wants to actually beat their competitive peers, they just want to form lame ass super teams.

I completely agree. There’s no mental toughness. Players that want to form super teams are emotionally weak and that includes LeBron, who started all of this mess. Rather than challenge themselves by going up against other great players, they just want to join forces with as many great players as they can to avoid possibly losing. That’s a weak minded approach.

I would not argue with any of that but we just got in to the picture with the offer and now he has a brand new situation to consider. If I am looking at your front court and realize how shallow K uses his bench, our offer would be framed in a better light.

gsd I somewhat agree with you, but LeBron didn't start it brother. Look back to Boston. They definitely brought it to life. Others had came to join good teams but Boston had their big three. And again, I do agree with your point.

I guess Roy "officially offered" but if you read the interview from Evan Daniels last week, EJ's dad was quoted as saying that he had cut his list to 11 schools (including UNC) and that he had an offer from all 11. So whether it was official or not, IDK? But apparently EJ and his dad were under the impression they already had an offer from UNC last week. Not sure the official offer this week changes much.

I never come on here trying to act arrogant or antagonize, just sharing what I've heard from the Duke side. It was clearly wrong during the Zion recruitment as my sources were adamant it was Clemson. You are free to take it or leave it. This is the info from the Duke side....

- He only has one visit set up at this time (Duke)
- his family reached out to Duke to recruit him
- several current Duke players from Georgia have a good relationship with him
- he likes the idea of joining our current commits and completing Duke's version of the "fab 5"
- wouldn't be shocked if he committed on the visit and didn't take anymore

Again, this could all be waaaaaay off, who knows? Things could certainly swing, but as of today, I would be shocked if he doesn't land at Duke.

The Russell Celtics were a superteam. The Magic/KAJ Lakers were a superteam. The Bird Celtics were a superteam. The Shaq/Kobe(/Malone/Payton) Lakers were a superteam.

You can't win championships without great teammates.

Appreciate the info as always, even if I don't like it.

I have to agree with the dookie here

I didn't take what you stated as a problem at all and as I said I do not disagree with it either. Just offering a degree of possibility in our favor. I was told Zion to Clemson for months as well, still shocked at how that worked out, even more so than Barnes to UNC a few years back.

I will remain optimistic and hope that the Capel "magic" that he brought with him from OK will not work this time! I guess we will see how much sugar he likes in his kool-aid! I don't believe in being afraid of competition so I don't understand youngsters that are taught to always take the easiest path AND I don't understand fans who want us to never even try to compete with puke or Kentuck! The same peeps that say, "why can't we land the elites" also say, "why waste time on anybody that lists puke or Kentuck" Roy is a great coach, but I bet even he can't pull off both of these! Maybe one of us should send him a list of the top 10-20 that have never even hinted darker shades of blue exist!

Mr. Montgomery, join the Family!

You are GUARANTEED to get PT at UNC, but you better pray Slimy and ratty don't suddenly like someone better after you commit to the other "blue bloods!" (everyone not named Carter or Bagley say, "Hi" , ...from the bench)

Thanks. I knew of the older teams also. Just trying to find the closest gen. And pretty obvious statement, it does take a great team for championship, but not at the can’t beat em join em method.
