CHAPEL HILL --- Kenan Memorial Stadium, one of college football's most beautiful and beloved facilities, will feature a number of upgrades in 2016 that are designed to enhance the experience of Carolina fans. With the home opener less than three weeks away, here's a detailed look at what you can expect on your visit to Chapel Hill this fall! New And Improved Concessions
• Aramark Sports & Entertainment has taken over operations for all Carolina Athletics concessions, including Kenan Stadium. Many of your gameday favorites from the past, including Coca-Cola products, Bojangles', Chick-fil-A and Ben & Jerrys, will be available for purchase.
• We will continue to offer some great local favorites that will bring the fun and flavor of Chapel Hill straight to Kenan Stadium. Those include offerings from Al's Burger Shack and Italian Pizzeria III of West Franklin Street as well as the famous BLT from Merritt's Store and Grill.
• Kenan's refurbished concession stands will now offer Hebrew National all-beef kosher hot dogs.
• Look for other concessions enhancements designed to reduce wait times and improve food service throughout Kenan Stadium.
Upgraded Kenan LED Displays
• Kenan Stadium will be equipped with state-of-the-art LED video displays that will run the entire length of both sidelines.
• The new sideline boards are more than 500 feet long and more than three feet high.
• In addition to the sideline upgrades, an LED board is also being added between the Concourse Club and Upper Club of the Blue Zone, giving Kenan a 580% total increase in LED space which will be used to provide scores, stats and more.
Special Recognitions
• Throughout the 2016 home schedule, we will honor some of our most successful teams and student-athletes from Carolina Athletics. Recognitions are tentatively scheduled for our two 2016 NCAA Champion lacrosse teams, the 2016 men's basketball team that won the ACC title and advanced to the national title game, a host of recent Patterson Medal winners as well as our next group of Kenan Legends.
Transportation and Parking
• UNC Transportation and Parking has worked with the Town of Chapel Hill to implement new signal optimization to improve traffic flow in and around Chapel Hill for the first home game on Saturday, September 17. The changes are expected to streamline the weight of traffic on local roads as fans come into and leave campus.
• A dedicated drop-off and pick-up location will be available in 2016 for taxis and ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft. Located in the bus lane of northbound South Columbia Street, between the Health Sciences Library bus stop and Medical Drive, this option will allow fans who utilize these services to more easily access Kenan Stadium on game day.
Seats For Service• The Seats for Service Campaign is a way to show Carolina pride while also providing an opportunity to attend a UNC football game and witness firsthand the passion of what it means to be a Tar Heel. This initiative will honor active service members, including the National Guard and Reserves, veterans, police officers, fire fighters, EMS providers and other first responders as well as children of fallen service members, police, fire and emergency responders.
• For $10, fans can sponsor special Tar Heel fans and their family members from local outposts in our state to attend a home game in beautiful Kenan Stadium!
• There are three ways for individuals or companies to take part in the Seats for Service Campaign: purchase tickets HERE, call the Carolina Athletics Ticket Office at (919) 962 – 2296 or visit the Carolina Ticket Office (located at the Ernie Williamson Athletic Center) from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekdays.
