Fargo

I've got it on the DVR and am eagerly awaiting to watch it. I've been rewatching season 1, it's so so so good. Season 2 might have an even better all around cast than season 1, which is saying something.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the hottest Prog-Rock band in the land.... Mike Milligan and the Kitchen Brothers!

I love the way the Kitchen Brothers shotguns just kind of disappeared when they lowered them. They must be attached to the inside of the coats somehow. I really enjoy the Mike Milligan character.

I haven't been able to watch this week's yet, but man, this show is so great. Definitely living up to season 1 so far. The whole cast has been great in these first few episodes. I really liked the scene in the 2nd episode where Milligan and the Kitchen Brothers meet Ted Danson on the road. Also, I loved the visual imagery in the butcher shop calling back to the wood chipper in the movie. All in all, great stuff, hoping to watch the 3rd episode before the game this evening.

Props to the Coen brothers. They got this thing down. And it's no surprise the acting is done so well. The assemblement of this cast deserves an A+. Right down to Jesse Plemons (Ed), I'm not certain anyone does the "easily manipulated" role better than him.

Actually, the Coens aren't really involved with running the show. Noah Hawley is the guy who runs the show. He definitely has nailed their tone though. And he has absolutely dominated casting these two seasons.

I didn't realize they didn't write it. Turns out they are just executive producers on this one.

Yeah, it's a fairly common misconception, and given the nature of the show, which is pretty close to their tone, it's easy to not realize they aren't really involved. Plus the subtle callbacks and references to their work adds to that as well.

Last night was just crazy!
Wranglers and white tees- we're going undercover.
And the best was- "from here on out, we're going radio silent." So she turns off the radio!
Priceless.

Lol WOW! I havent enjoyed a show like this since breaking bad. Love how they pay homage to the orig movie. Esp "we're going crazy up there in the cabin" with the tv that doesnt work. I was looking for the wood chipper then i remembered the butcher using his meat grinder.

The best thing about that TV not working was after hitting it (just like in the movie) the channel was showing the same beetle scene just like in the movie.

Also, I like how Hanzee was scoping the police from atop an Optometrist office. Classic!

Wow excellent catch on the beetle scene!

This season is crushing it. This is definitely the best show of 2015 as far as I'm concerned. I laughed for a solid minute at the following line

Yea, I did as well. Most shows would be ruined if a flying saucer showed up. The FS simply enhanced this Show bc there has been plenty of foreshadowing. We've been anticipating it and wondering how it was gonna play a role. Well, it saved Lou's life which is nice. Also would have taken Ed's life had Peg not told him to move on as stated above in the gif. Lol.

Loved how the sheriff is the dad in the previous season. So their daughter is the main character in the prev season.

Awesome show.

Loved the music from the original movie when Peggy is put in the cruiser to go back to Minnesota. Absolutely awesome to throw it back like that. And the talk he has with her on the way was also similar. Also the throwback to 'No Country for Old Men' when Ed stopped that car while running from Hanzee and causes the driver to get shot. Awesome!

Well after reading this thread I 'm just going to have to start from the beginning and get caught up. Apparently I've really missed out by not watching this series. I'll probably see if I can find the movie somewhere. I vaguely remember watching it but have forgotten most of the plot. Do you guys recommend me re-watching the movie before diving into the series?

I'd say so. It really helps you appreciate the essence Noah Hawley has been able to capture from the Coen films. And you will get a good chuckle out of the references from the series after watching them.

I don't think it's necessary to watch the movie to appreciate the show, but it won't hurt. I love the movie (it's my 2nd favorite Coen Brothers movie behind Big Lebowski as you might have guessed by the avatar), and the show is just as good, if not better. It might be hard to find the show streaming, but I'm 99% sure the movie is on Netflix.
