When you get to worst movies about music, it's Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
And I don't think anything else is close.

That poster is a perfect example... Buddy Holly never played a Telecaster. He only played Stratocasters. It was iconic with Buddy Holly. You'd think Gary Busey would have told the props department. And, as I said before, all of the characters, except Buddy and Maria Elena were totally fictional. The Crickets' names weren't even right- Ray-Bob and Jesse. The inaccuracies with that film are countless.

By the way, the Holley family (correct spelling), gave Gary Busey Buddy's Gibson J-45, that Buddy Holly himself made the tooled leather cover, for his portrayal of Buddy.

Busey did a good job singing and playing. But, they told a fictional story is all.I try to not allow facts to ruin a good movie about music.
And, the final scene has some full orchestra behind him at the Surf Ballroom in Iowa, the night he died. There was NEVER any full orchestra on stage with him or the Crickets! He had a small combo like always. And, Waylon Jennings was his bass player in that band. Buddy chartered a plane and his bandmates- Tommy Allsup and Waylon Jennings- were supposed to fly with him. But, as we all know, those two gave-up their seats to The Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens. As they parted, Buddy shouted to Waylon "I hope your old bus freezes-up" and Waylon shouted back "Well, I hope your plane crashes!"Having buddy Holley play anything other than a strat isn’t some minor detail. That’s an integral piece of the history of the electric guitar.
