Wednesday was the first time Larry Fedora has been available to the media since everything was finalized regarding JC transfer LB J.B. Copeland, so I asked him about how that situation materialized and if the staff expects Copeland to be on the field next fall:
"We hope so. The way it materialized is that knowing that Jeff Schoettmer and Shak were leaving and we lost Joe Jackson at the beginning of the year to a career-ending injury, all of a sudden it became a priority. We kept looking at the younger guys that we were recruiting and wondering were we going to be okay or did we need to bring some type of age into that room. After searching the junior colleges we found J.B. and felt like he was a good fit for us and we thought he could be successful so we said, ‘Yeah, lets go after him.’ And that’s why we chose to bring him in."
