When you see the Maize and Blue uniforms (with the viking helmets in the same colors) come out of the Visitors locker room, don't think you're in the wrong stadium Saturday - those won't be the Wolverines from Ann Arbor, Mich. but the Fightin' Blue Hens from Newark, Delaware! We have the second leg of our "fowl" schedule for this year - (started with the Gamecocks, and finish with the Fightin' Gobblers of VT in Nov) - hopefully the last two will end more satisfactorily than the first!!
And although they are now at 1-2 on the year, each loss (to Jacksonville and Villanova) was by a single TD, and this team has a tradition of being in the FCS playoffs, with 2010 being the last year they were in the Championship game - they have several national championships in the past, the last being in 2003. I have no idea how they came to be known as the Blue Hens, but I'm sure it must be quite a story!
At any rate, given the close calls experienced by many Good FBS Div teams this year against smaller school competition, it is obvious that UNC cannot afford to take the Delaware fowl for granted.
I don't think they will - and I suspect a very lopsided score, similar to the last 2, with deep reserves getting a significant amount of PT in the 2nd half. My guess 52-17. Other thoughts and predictions.
