Fire all the ACC officials

Wow, major screw over on kick recovery. No one was off sides, no debate. Would like to have seen when flag was thrown. Bet they threw it when they saw Clemson wasn't going to recover. Just a horrible call.

It was thrown right away....if Clemson would have recovered it would not have mattered...obviously they did not and it mattered!!! Total BS call.....hope that official has his ass handed to him and is fired!!!!!

Guys, college football is big business. That official was either paid by mob $$ or instructed by the CFP committee under threat of his job that in a late game situation where UNC might win, to make sure they didn't. The committee was determined we weren't gonna be in the Playoff. They paid an official to make sure of it.

I started a thread post- GaTech that the anti-UNC bias by the ACC is real. Tonight was further verification. That isn't missing a call; that is pre-determining who you want to win.

100% based on the timing of the flag. He was pulling flag no matter what. As shared if Clemson recovers no harm no foul. But in the event unc recovers and we did, it made it null and void.

fired???? he'll probably get a raise. the conference wants a team in the playoff and that means a clemson win. very predictable...

They are all a ****ing joke. And make bullshit like that reviewable. It wasn't a deadball penalty.

Yep. I don't get it. Might have lost the game anyway. But it wasn't even close to off-sides. Just what the heck was going on with that? It's one of the easiest things to see as a ref.

****ing exactly. Some ****ing clemson out of the closet fan was down at this bar in pittsburgh and was like bad calls always happen.

It is different.

Like it didn't happen in the heat of the moment. Or at a bad angle. You literally are standing down the ****ing line and watching the line with a clear view

Further proof. ESPN won't make mention of it. The $$ is really good for them too, getting the "brand".
ESPN is running it on the ticker that the call was missed and that's gonna make it tough for the puzzies in the ACC office to stand by the call. They have discussed it in depth and basically said it was inexcusable.

Look at the replay. He was struck in the helmet from a helmet of a UNC player. No call, no ejection from the refs.

How do they ignore this:

Can we get rid of all the ACC basketball refs that gave Dean and give Roy an ongoing unfair advantage? Seems odd that you guys would be pushing for "playing fair"

I take it you are trying to be funny or either you don't watch ACC basketball or at least not dook games.

I only mentioned the UNC bias, because I am on your site. Believe me Coach K also get his share of "good officiating" , but I will tell you this Clemson playing UNC or Duke in basketball has historically been at a multi-point handicap based on ACC basketball officiating.

It has become a common joke, that is discussed often. How will the refs steal this game in Chapel Hill? Ask Rick Barnes about it.

Barnes coached the dirtiest team in the ACC. They were goons.

1 bullshit call to 0.

On a side note, did he fumble when he got hurt? (Clemson QB)

I didn't see it well if he was down or not.

The interception should have been overturned. The replay clearly showed the nose of the ball hit the ground, then the ball moved.

And the reason I would ask Barnes' opinion on anything or trust it is...?

I'm trying to think of a time when a bad call vs UNC cost Clemson a chance at winning the ACC in basketball but I can't come up with one. Seems like a pretty bad comparison.

There are officials on both ends of the 35 yard line. How do both of them miss such an obvious call?

That's your opinion.

It is my opinion that there wasn't enough evidence to overturn the call. The Clemson fans around me at the game agreed. So did the refs, hence the "play stands" call.

Exactly. They said the play "stands", meaning they couldn't find enough evidence on the replay to overturn it. Not the same as "confirmed", where they verify the call was correct.

To the other jerk who said something about the helmet to helmet on your QB, the difference there was 1) the UNC player wasn't leading with the helmet and targeting the QB. If you look you see him only lower his helmet and turn to try to hit with the shoulder pad. The QB was running so the momentum carried him further and there was helmet to helmet contact. And 2) the QB was running and was therefore not a defenseless player like Switzer was when he was trying to catch the punt. HUGER difference there and if you can't see that then you need to take the blinders off.

Bottom line is refs make bad calls all the time. This year they are worse across the board with the ACC refs taking it to a new level. The problem most of us have is that THIS call was terrible as it wasn't even close and that it cost us a shot at tying the game at the end. Like in basketball, the "let them play" unspoken rule so your call doesn't affect the outcome. Perhaps you are not calling it as tight and willing to let some things go so YOU don't cause a team to lose.

In this case the refs didn't take themselves out of the picture and caused us the CHANCE to tie. I am not confident we would have been able to but I would rather see us fail in trying than to never have a chance.

Despite some jerks here, I have found most Clemson fans to be classy and all around good folks. I, like Fedora, wish Clemson all the best and hope they win it all.

I tried to tell you after the Duke Miami game how bad the ACC officials are, and I got pummeled. What got me about that call is that he tried to see something that was not there, nor even close. I am glad Fedora did call them out at the risk of getting fined.

There was plenty of evidence. The nose of the ball clearly hit the ground. No opinion there. You could also clearly see the ball move. When the ball hit the ground, you could see the white stripe spin around. Should have been overturned.

That's not what the rules state. Quarterback hit in the backfield by helmet to helmet contact. Routine call. Refs missed it.

A picture is worth a thousand words. I'm not dwelling on this because there were many other things that contributed to the loss, primarily Clemson being the better team.

HST, how in the world can conference officials be so damn incompetent week after week and not be held accountable? I think a concerted campaign to answer this question should be mounted by HC's and fans alike. When obviously blown calls occur on national TV and potentially affect the outcome of the game, it makes the conference look bad. Surely the PTB can see this.

I'm talking to you Mr. Swofford. It is obvious that our officials require better training and supervision, with serious repercussions for substandard performance. If anyone has the Supervisor of Officials' email address, please make it available. If it takes embarrassing him to elicit action on his part, so be it.

There also should have been a targeting call on North Carolina on that kick. Look at the video. North Carolina defender clearly hits the Clemson receiver in the head with his helmet.

Sorry topdeck, but I have to disagree with you there. Looks clean to me. I think you're just using that to minimize the blown offside call. Whatever, you see things through orange tinted glasses and I see through light blue.

Regardless, as a football fan, I think you'll agree that officiating has been atrocious this year and needs to be addressed pronto.
