6 former players file lawsuit against coach Leonard Hamilton over NIL compensation of $250,000 that each was supposed to receive for playing at FSU. Players should have had a lawyer and written contract.

And now Leonard is in the last year of his contract...

"the six players realized near the end of the season that Hamilton was unlikely to fulfill his promises on the NIL payments and boycotted a practice before a home game vs. Duke on Feb. 17. They were also determined to boycott the Duke game, which FSU lost 76-67, but were convinced to play after Hamilton in a team meeting learned of their plans and reiterated that each player would be paid $250,000 and that the transaction would take place the following week."

The lack of NIL oversight (and partly an acknowledgement that the NCAA would just be sued over and over if any attempt to regulate was placed) is absurd. Coaches should not even be in a position to manage allocation of NIL funds nor make promises thereof.

If there was no written/signed contract regarding it, I think the most damaging part of it is that there are multiple individuals who are attesting to this occurrence.

I think it is a ncaa violation if a coach is playing with NIL money. NIL collectives are supposed to do the dirty deal, not the school and any coach.

It was supposed to be but yet again the feckless NCAA stands around and fiddles.
Don't worry....Sankey likely called the ncaa to stop BB from making us great in football. Someone might have slept on a former player's couch or had an easy class on campus. They don't do easy classes in the SEC per the ncaa....despite their low academic rankings.

Could this be the end of elite basketball for UNC? Looking at the SEC with every dam team qualifying for the tourney when historically that conference SUCKS in bball tells me they have $$$ the ACC or UNC doesn’t have to compete. Will the football program change the course? Is it really true Hubert can’t recruit a big to come to UNC? Have a hard time buying that but curious of other opinions. With Bacot exit stage left bigs should have drooling to fill the void. None came, yet Florida has multiple bigs at 6’10” plus, not to mention Alabama & others.
