CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina’s home football game on Saturday vs. Virginia Tech is expected to be played as scheduled at 3:30 p.m. at Kenan Stadium.
As of Friday (Oct. 7), forecasts project Hurricane Matthew to weaken and head eastward as it approaches the Carolinas. The storm is likely to include pockets of heavy rain and blustery conditions in the Triangle area.
The University continues to consult with emergency management agencies and will take precautions as necessary to keep our fans, the teams and the campus community safe.
Consistent with Atlantic Coast Conference policy, the game will be played on the originally scheduled date as long as the campus deems the conditions playable and safe.
