I also believe TJ Logan needs to have a big game... X Factor... He tends to show up in games like this.
Anything to slow down their pass rush a little. Mitch won't have s much time as he had against Pitt.I agree but I like the thought of allowing Hood to just chip a block and wait for a pass in the flat on some plays. If Hood can get a pass or two out in the flat where there's space it gives FSU another headache to worry about.
If it comes down to a shootout I think our chance of winning increases. We are a shootout team right now. If it comes down to some kind of defensive game then I think we lose by a couple of touchdowns. Getting a stop against FSU at their place is a lot harder than getting a stop against Pitt at our place. And please let our defense play well. Otherwise, we are in a shootout. And if FSU gets it going against our "D" then....oh well. Put up an "L". I'm still hoping our staff and players will come in prepared and hold their own.
Thanks for that brilliant insight Captain Obvious. If this is the kind of debate we can expect from FSU fans, it should be an educational week.yall have played nobody!!!! and yalls defense gives up 265 yards rushing a game!! cook is coming
Did you read the posts where our own fans were saying that? Jackass.yall have played nobody!!!! and yalls defense gives up 265 yards rushing a game!! cook is coming
but you have beaten nobody but a 2nd level SEC team. You gave up 63 points to UL , maybe they will turn out to be the greatest college team ever but I doubt it.yall have played nobody!!!! and yalls defense gives up 265 yards rushing a game!! cook is coming
I don't think that most FSU fans are very confident....
Any team with a QB has been shredding the Nole D for 20 yard plus plays....and the defense plays decent only to have inexplicable lapses...allowing wide open receivers, runners allowed to blast up the middle for long runs, etc.
The Nole offense will do OK if a pass rush can't get to the QB. Not terrific...but OK
You're better than me. I had to start shopping for an AED after that game.in that last drive against Pitt, I just had confidence in the guys to make plays, even on those 4th and longs

YepFrom account of recent Jimbo interview...
"Jimbo asked about UNC's rushing defense. He says numbers are skewed because they've played good running teams. Plus teams respect secondary, so teams are shying away from pass. And they want to keep UNC offense off field."
I expect that Jimbo will continue the running game trend, trying to limit the time that the Heels have the ball.
Bug's weakness has been that he has often played soft, as if he weren't fully aware of what he can do. Last week, Pitt draped that DB all over him every play. Bug was mugged from his first play until he caught the game winning TD.While Hood doesn't have the turbo gear of Logan, if he gets that block at the line or on the edge we'll see the Hood of 5-9 yards a carry again. As to Logan, I'm still playing the tape in my head on his kickoff return earlier this season, kid has a different gear, ran right into a group of 3 defenders and in one step shot beyond 'em all by about 8 yards and was gone. Gave me goosebumps.
I hope the guys can give both TJ and Elijah some blocks. Love to see a couple of passes into the flat for both too!
And if we have a mismatch on Bug throw to bug, ALOT!
Would love to see you Heels beat FSU on the 1st, followed by us beating them on the 8th!

I'm getting ready to poast some stats for this matchup. A couple in particular really jumped out at me and demonstrate the point you're making. The best way for UNC to score will most likely be on big plays for big gains.

FSU's defense is holding opposing teams to a paltry 49.5% completion rate, which ranks 13th in the nation. But, FSU also allows a whopping 18.1 yards per completion, which is dead last nationally. Translation: when you do manage to complete a pass, it's likely to be a huge gainer. That's just nuts.

They've given up 13 plays of more than 30 yards this year already. We should be able to exploit that if we can give Mitch decent pass protection. That tells me they're blitzing a lot and using man coverage. When u can get the ball away u get a big gain.
It'll be interesting to see how our defense fares against a qb that is a pocket passer. Not really a threat to run like lamar and flowers. Wonder which d shows up.They've given up 13 plays of more than 30 yards this year already. We should be able to exploit that if we can give Mitch decent pass protection.
If I were the FSU OC, I would run the ball every play except 3rd and 5+. Noles would win by 3 touchdowns.Offense seemed to simplify their game plan last week and really focused on being physical and hammering the run game. I don't expect that to change tomorrow.
