Hiring Jim Leavitt

Even if as consultant he can fix what the DC hasn't, the offense still has some 2nd half issues. And the schedule is not getting easier than Louisiana Monroe.

A couple more games like the first two and he will very quickly become the DC. Will probably happen in the offseason regardless.

At least they didn't wait too late for the whole season to be shot for making a changes.

Leavitt was Taggarts first choice as dc; Oregon made him co head coach just to keep him away from Taggart. Seems he and Oregon the now head coach ended on bad terms; he is probably the dc next yr... and they still have that terrible o line; I have heard multiple analyst say that o line is a 4 yr fix; briles is doing the best with what they have but smoke and mirrors only get you so far in a game and in the second half it is showing.

Their issues go beyond defense. I don't see Blackmon as the long term solution at the QB position.

Can’t blame Taggert, he’s desperately trying to save his job.

Barring a scandal or other serious event, I think a coach deserves at least two full recruiting classes before he can be considered to be fired. Lack of talent and / or chemistry issues take time to correct, and success rarely happens overnight. Now if the two cycles pass and there isn't much noticeable improvement, then it becomes to fall on the new coach.
