FT disparity

And we are a jump shooting basketball team and typically people don't foul jump shooters.

UK east has been a jump shooting team for
DECADES and has gotten call after call after call on their "drives" . The FT disparity in their favor over many years has been a fact with dook. I did not watch the wake game but it does not surprise me. This UK East team is radically different from most of their past teams, which have relied heavily on the outside shot yet still managed to enjoy a massive FT advantage. SOS different day with these jerks.

Yeah I note this anytime someone tells me we are a jump shooting team when I note foul discrepancies. Just because you shoot a lot of 3s, doesn't mean you can't collect fouls throughout a game. Hell we're the top rebounding team in the conference so it's not like we're immune to the paint.

I don't believe in conspiracy theories but given the current rule set it should be damn hard for teams to go 8-10 minutes spans only getting whistled one time. I've seen it it multiple times in our recent road games, including in Blacksburg. Obviously they kicked our teeth in for the better part of 30 minutes but they had a single foul at the 10 minute mark(we were already in the bonus) of the 2nd half despite having 1 more 3PA at the same point of the game.

I think a lot on this board just think they are "above" acknowledging the officiating in our games. I don't recall many instances, if any, of me blaming the officials for our losses but lopsided foul/free throw discrepancies can really impact a game, especially in the second half. FSU had 9 fouls call on them the entire game in Tallahassee, and you saw end game they had the ability to guard really tight and not fear free throws. They also had 2-3 fouls to give in the final possessions.

Bottom line the growing concern isn't fouls for, or fouls against. But the state of officiating across all sports is pretty pathetic and college basketball is certainly included. It would just be incredible to have some semblance of consistency from game to game, not for the fans, but for the players. We're averaging 11 FTA's per game in our last 4 road games, compared to 20 FTA in our last 3 home games.

So to clarify, discussing FT discrepancy in our games is useless. But discussing if Jalek saw, or didn't see Joel's hand while subbing out of the game is useful?

Have not addressed the Jalek thread yet, but to me it is much about nothing but it is a Tar Heel thread on a Tar Heel board. This one is about Duke. Sorry if you can't see the difference. Freethrow disparity tells you nothing unless you saw the game and saw where one team got all the calls while the other didn't. jmhho

I'm not big on Duke threads in case you never noticed.

When you play shit defense and don't move your feet and over and over get caught out of position get fouls called on you.

Neither Maye or Berry went to the line the other night and if the teams best players don't get free throws then that is all you have to know about this year's offensive schemes.
