Full Disclosure, I bet on dook.

The real story, or backstory, I was 14 when I watched UCLA win the 1975 NCAA Championship. John Wooden had announced prior to the start of the season that it would be his last year coaching. Sound Familiar? I was amazed at how things fell their way during the NCAA tournament. Lots of calls went their way, plus they played really well, but they would not have won it if the Louisville player who had not missed a FT in the entire tournament, had not missed a foul shot late in the semifinal game against UCLA. Anyway, even as a 14 year old, I noticed the whole thing seemed fishy to me.

With this in mind, I had my mind made up this year that dook was going to win the tournament, whether it be 5 on 8 games, or the basketball gods wanting K to go out on top, or whatever. So on March 10th, between the ass whipping we delivered in Hansbrough Indoor Stadium, and the start of play in the ACC Tournament for the top 4 seeds, I was in Cherokee with 1K, set on making some futures bets to win the tournament. I decided on $200 on Gonzaga at +375 (to win $950), the safe play to get most of my money back. I then put $700 on dook at 12-1 (to win $9100) and the last $100 on UNC at 100-1 for a goof (which doesn't look like that much of a goof now) to win $10,100. I was disappointed to see all 3 of those teams on the same side of the bracket, but it may work out to my advantage. So, I'm going to have a live ticket on Monday night for nearly, or better than 5 figures, and I'm hoping it's the UNC ticket that's still live. Depending on who wins Saturday, and the line on Monday night, I plan on driving to Cherokee Monday to hedge my bet and make sure I walk out a winner. I feel a little shameful betting on dook to win it, but I saw this movie once before with Wooden, and just had a strong feeling K was going to go out with a Championship. By the way, I am pulling to lose my $700 on dook, no way I can pull for them, even with what's at stake. In a perfect world, UNC will win it and I'll collect that 10K on Monday night, but as long as dook doesn't win it, I'll feel better. I just know, I'm either going to be happy, or I'm going to get paid. Win/Win

Edit - I don't want to insinuate that dook is getting a bunch of calls, they are certainly playing at a championship level right now. But I just see the stars aligning for them and I hate it.
