CHAPEL HILL --- The North Carolina baseball team has finalized its annual Fall World Series dates for 2014, head coach Mike Fox announced this week. In addition to the three games this weekend, the Tar Heels will play six other intrasquad exhibitions, including three at historic ballparks in the state.


Carolina will open play this weekend, with action set to begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, and 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, and all three games are free to all spectators. This weekend is also Old Leaguers Weekend and Parents Weekend in Chapel Hill. For more information, contact Joan Holt in the UNC Baseball office at 919-962-2351.


Play resumes in Chapel Hill on Friday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m., followed by games at Boshamer Stadium Oct. 11 at noon and Oct. 12 at 1 p.m.


The final weekend of play will take place at three local stadiums. The Tar Heels will hold a closed scrimmage at Durham Bulls Athletic Park on Oct. 17 before traveling to Burlington Athletic Stadium for an open exhibition on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. UNC will conclude fall play on Sunday, Oct. 19, with an open exhibition at historic Durham Athletic Park at 6 p.m.


All games but the game in Durham on Oct. 16 are open to the public and free to all fans.


Carolina begins exhibition play Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 2:30 p.m. against the Ontario Blue Jays.
