Keep your thoughts and prayers on us coastal carolinians with this storm. Looking bad for the southeast coast.

I do not miss living at the coast... and this is one of the biggest reasons.

If that thing turns out to be as hellacious as the experts say then a whole lot of NC is going to be in trouble. I'm not looking forward to this ish at all. Stay safe.

I live within 2 miles of the coast at holden beach. It amazes me how close to disaster you really are with these storms. Just a few miles means the difference between devastating damage and moderate conditions. I have a feeling this will be a historic storm. The biggest threat will be flooding inland. I hope it doesn't stall

Hoping this doesn't ride the coast up the seaboard, as I can throw a baseball into the ocean from my roof, and I'd rather not be able to drop one in the ocean from my front door.

Stay safe down there.

somebody remind me, the flood that hit here in columbia three years ago, was that the same system that crushed lumberton?

or am i thinking of a different storm?...i saw drone video of a river that crested and took out numerous homes.

That same storm not only took out homes, but large parts of the city. I also wiped out a small town a few miles up the road. Some of those areas still ha ent recovered.

Which leads to this point. When people owe no debt against the structures on their property, they tend to cancel major insurance. As much as I hate to pay it, in probable high impact areas, it's always good to have. I've saw 4 ' of flood water in my home town of shallotte during a hurricane. It wiped out a hardware store. They had no insurance. This surge in the economy as of late has finally helped them over the hump. Now we have another one threatening. Everytime they hear of these storms, they put all the stock up high. They have Mark's on the walls showing the exact level of that flood.

Currently showing that the storm may turn southward after it makes landfall, and possibly run down the S.C. coastline.

We were gonna leave Wilmington today but were told we had to evacuate the rental property yesterday. Glad we did. It still took us nearly 2 hours longer to get home due to accidents on I-40. I’m sure today will be worse.

@heelmanwilm , how far inland are you? Are you planning to ride it out? Either way, good luck.

My parents left Wilmington yesterday and went to Hilton Head of all places to stay with relatives. I'm fairly certain they'll get evacuated from there too. In other news, a tropical storm forming in gulf appears headed for Houston. Fun times.

Father-in-law is coming from Wrightsville to stay with us. My dad and his wife are also coming from Washington to Greenville. I've been through a lot of storms but this time, with the kids, I went ahead and got a generator so we won't lose the food in the fridge if the power's out for a while.

Last night's track shift to the south may spare us from the highest winds but the rain and flooding are likely to be severe, especially if it just keeps dumping rain upstream from us for days like they're showing. With Matthew the highest water here was 4-5 days after the storm.

Stay safe, y'all.

Strange how they predicted it moving more north and overnight it is predicted to go more south. Think about all the people who went south of the storm have to now deal with 20+ inches of rain thru the weekend.

That euro model seems to be more dialed in than others

the wxrisk guy on fb nailed this two days ago...he said wilmington south and through columbia would get hammered.

thanks again for providing his sight, he’s really good.

It's already getting tough in North Topsail. These were taken by NTPD aprox. 11 am.

I’m at ground zero where landfall is expected. Winds around 70 right now. Still have power. Been cooking all day to keep occupied. Steaks, roast, salmon, all packed away for the next few days. Have a generator and plenty of gas, oh and hurricane sex is the best.

Powers out here. We lost a few trees already.

Generator is working fine. I have 12 people in my shop kitchen area. The worse of the storm hasn't made it here yet we may have 2" or rain so far. They calling for 20" more. I hope they wrong

Day one:
We’ve eaten all the food. No power. Hot. Humid. Too hot for sex. Went to get gas for generator but line is about quarter mile long. Rain is relentless. Trees down everywhere and roads are blocked. Dog stuck his head out the doggie door then looked me straight in the eye as he peed in the floor. No cream for my coffee. Ready to end it all.

Oh man, hang in there dude.

We are supposed to get some heavier rain in Piedmont area tonight / tomorrow, but nothing like what you guys are going through. Our power goes out with the slightest storms, so I'm fully expecting to lose it overnight or Sunday. And, without a doubt, my dog will do the same if it's raining hard outside.

I saw this earlier and had to LOL, I don't know if he was trying to sell the bad weather for ratings or if he was rocking to a song that was playing in his head. Either way it was hilarious . .

The things they teach you in meteorology skool . . oh my.

It sounded survivable until I read about the no coffee cream . . . that's brootal right there. Check in with the neighbors for the half 'n half and hang tight . .
