Going to be a rough next few days

wLRBzl.jpg

The white line is the path the eye took. The blue dot is me. So awesome how it took an inexplicable hard left to ensure a direct eyewall hit on my house then continued westward.

Day one:
We’ve eaten all the food. No power. Hot. Humid. Too hot for sex. Went to get gas for generator but line is about quarter mile long. Rain is relentless. Trees down everywhere and roads are blocked. Dog stuck his head out the doggie door then looked me straight in the eye as he peed in the floor. No cream for my coffee. Ready to end it all.
But no tourist though. Glass half full.

one local guy here just gave some hilarious hot takes on social media weather forecasters that i’m sure will become viral.

eta: hope everyone is okay

How are you making out in this rain event, Gary . . ?

Hopefully, you have enough coffee cream . . ?

it hasn’t yet...it says i need to ground it?

not even sure it will sustain my fridge.

Probably too late to help but those things have a chassis ground. Just connect a wire to any screw on the frame and run it into the dirt a couple of feet. How many amps does the generator produce?

Holy crap!
Whoa . . that is some really scary stuff. Amazing that the Governor is saying 'go around North Carolina' . . that's a big DO NOT ENTER sign.
Yeah, I saw that on the DOT website. Not sure I’ve heard of such a thing in my lifetime

I moved my RV to southern Virginia over the weekend to avoid the wind and debris. Decided to drive back to Charlotte yesterday but it was nervous business. Hours later they closed I-85 in Rowan County. Gonna be a long cleanup...everybody stay safe.

So crazy as shit last couple days. We took in a fam we sorta knew after they posted being flooded out and evacuated by boat. They show up with 3 pitbulls and two cats they conveniently failed to mention. So wtf u supposed to do? So we took them in. But Actually worked out good. The guy is an electrician and hooked up my generator to back feed the entire house so we could use all the outlets and lights. The dogs were very well behaved. But damn things were cramped and hot. Anyway they got to go back to their house today. Right after they left the power came back on. Never been so glad to take a hot shower in my life.

feel for you guys and the others affected.

it’s a fwp when the power goes out, yeah it sucks, but that s is flat horrible.

They were there, what, 3 hours?

I keed, I keed. Glad you’re getting back to normal. It was getting hard to tell whether your post-apocalyptic messages were actually jokes.

Lol. Yea it was just two days but at the time we were convinced it would be much longer. luckily they acquired other accomodations with power and more room.

So u think things are somewhat back to normal so you head out around 8pm for some ice cream......none...anywhere...all grocery stores closed around 7 and the few fast food places open have lines wrapped around their buildings and into the street. So i go to a gas station and buy the last two nutty buddies out of the freezer and stand in line prob 10 min to pay for it. All the while hearing that most everyone in there still dont have power. Man i feel for them. Gonna be a while before this shit is over.
