I didn't see second half, but listened. That late D stand sounded impressive.

Anyway, so my guess would be:

Good- DL, Josh Downs, Kamari

Bad- OL. We're now on 3rd or 4th string center if you call Chance Carroll the early third stringer. Why are 2 of the 4 walk-ons? I guess losing Ty Murray hurts... What's new.

Ugly Duke coeds? Sam's chiropractor bills?

Need other people to fill in blanks.

@blazers perfect, i missed the first half.

good- i saw a good d-line and a secondary that played better.

bad- o-line still blows my mind at how awful a unit they are…as does the decision to run sam and not yell at him to throw it away.

more receivers need to step up

ugly- the bad

I can't understand why we are not using a lot more intermediate routes and screens to allow Sam to get the ball out of his hands quicker, seems the easy solution for a line that just is not giving him the time for the longer routes to develop? Would also reduce the blitz packages allowing them to double move and Sam have more time to let the double move develop?

i agree. another solution is to get the run game going as we did in the second half against dook. strong run game keeps defenders honest, which is why sam wasn't sacked as much last year.

We were close to 120th in sacks given up last yr too.

Thought Baker held up well in his limited time at Center as he hasn't taken a snap there in college nor in high school. Mack said he's the Center of the future and wants to give him snaps throughout the remainder of the season. DJ Jones also had some good runs while displaying good patience.

Also liked seeing Mack play Gosnell on offense early in addition to Boykins, RaRa and Power on special teams.

The defense must have been doing something right because the dookies were averaging 500 YPG on offense.

And, the typical UNC/dook game is NEVER this dominating by either team.

The D was definitely the GOOD: dook punted 9 times, had 3 turnovers and 2 possessions ended on downs. Of their 308 total yards, 117 came on two plays (37 yard run; 80 yard TD pass). Their remaining 61 plays only netted 191 yards.

VT and Miami fans told the same tale about Searels: he seemed to like certain guys and not like other guys; if he only liked 6 or 7, that was the number he wanted to play, and if he liked 10 guys, he would actually try to develop depth; players almost never developed - when they left, they were barely better or no better than when they arrived; Searels would dig in his heels and refuse to make changes even when his OL looked terrible.

They say great minds think alike and this is a prime example. I have been harping on the facts All Season that Carolina never uses screen passes to neutralize big pass rushes nor do they rarely pass to a back out of the backfield. They finally did that Saturday to Chandler and he took it to the house. Just recently there has been some passes to Morales and he has scored in three straight games. Why does Brown or Downs get a chance on reverses. And finally why does Brown, Green and Simmons hardly ever get targeted on pass plays. Open up the play book 📖 some so that the team is not just one dimensional. The O line has not been the strength that many predicated but to be fair all of the sacks on Howell is not their fault because for some reason Sam would rather take a sack than throw the ball away…

Defense won the game and made us look better than we should have. I am not sure how we gave Duke a chance to score at the end of the half, but the Defense came up big. Stopping Duke on 4th down(s). Getting an interception and getting a fumble for a score. It was fun to see them play. Even with all that, when Duke scored in the first 20 seconds of the second half, I thought we might have been in for a close game. I may be crazy, but I wish we had Fedora as our offensive coordinator. I think we would be putting up some numbers and pretending like our OL was better than they are.

Sam has been sacked 22 times this season. He was sacked 34 last season total.
