Got any money ridin' on _____ ?

Parlay: Chicago Cubs ML + St. Louis Cardinals ML; pays out +178

Padres at Braves, number of runs + errors in 1st inning, o/u 3... UNDER. 5 units. -145

Nice bet, maybe it's hindsight but that seems like a lock to at worst push.
Thanks! And you would think so, but there was a few factors that made it not a sure thing -- Padres have scored in the 1st inning in most of their games this season, the Braves have committed a lot of errors this season, and SPs Garcia and Weaver both have a proclivity to get shelled.

The total ended up at just 1, but Jaime Garcia gave up three straight hits and a run to start the game, then walked the bases loaded before getting out of a major jam. Oh, and Freeman dropped a pop foul along the first base line, but they didn't give him an error. So I was sweating a little bit.

Ordinarily though, I'd take -145 on that prop every game if I could get that good of odds. I also like the "either team to score in the first inning?" prop, though I'm glad I didn't do so last night.

K... Well apparently I'm a dumbass and misread the bet. It was total runs, errors, AND hits in the first inning, so I lost the bet.

I swear Bovada pulled a fast one on me because I re-read that thing a couple times and didn't see hits.

I got porked on NHL playoffs last night. Had the Bruins, Flames, and Blackhawks to win. All lost in OT. The Flames after choking away a 4-1 lead that they had with a minute to go in the 2nd, and the Hawks after choking away a 2-0 lead in the 3rd. The Bruins got throttled early and were down 3-0 but came back to tie it at 3 before a very questionable penalty call in OT gave the Senators a PP that they scored on.

I have a unit each on Mike Williams being the first WR taken, and Trubisky being the first QB taken in the upcoming NFL draft, both at -200.

I wonder if any NFL execs ever do a little "insider trading" on these types of bets. I'm not even sure if it'd be illegal since they're not betting on games. Like if the Browns know they're taking Trubisky #1 overall, why wouldn't someone put in max bets on him being the 1st overall pick, him being the first QB taken, a QB being taken first overall, and any other props they could know for sure will hit.

I wonder the same thing about Joe Buck in the Super Bowl with all the props related to announcer references. Someone HAD to have paid Buck and Aikman a bit of coin to fulfill one particular prop. It was "O/U on times "Gronkowski" and/or "Gronk" is said on TV broadcast -- 2.5"

I took the over, and it HAD to have been a work. In like the second quarter, the camera showed Gronk in a luxury box (or on the field, can't remember), and Buck said Gronkowski once, and then Gronk once about 5 seconds apart as he was saying "Of course the Patriots are without star tight end Rob Gronkowski... blah blah" and then Aikman chimes in right after and could've just said "Yeah the Patriots sure wish they had him" but instead outright names him again and goes "Yeah, the Patriots sure could use Rob Gronkowski on the field."

LOL, bet complete; over achieved. And then they immediately moved on and I do not think he was shown or mentioned again.

Yup, same thing for National Anthem O/U's and pretty much any prop bet that's not involved in the game. Maybe even some that are involved in the game - if the trainer knows Gronk is more hurt than the team is letting on, and will be used sparingly and primarily as a decoy - he can go in hard on yardage and catch unders.

That's the place where the real money can be made, as it's a much more sure thing than a player even betting against his own team. Even if a QB or RB was trying to throw the game - a late pick 6 by the defense or something can thwart that. Prop bets for those "in the know" are no-brainers that can't lose. I wonder if there's any official regulations put on them by the league. Obviously the league has stances against betting on games, but I imagine that has to be somewhat limited to only NFL employees. But an outside doctor, or even a player's agent/lawyer/dad/etc that gets wind that their guy is being taken #1 overall can make some serious coin.

Boston at Toronto
7pm
under 8.5

Marcus Stroman has pitched 9 unders in a row and the Blue Jays are last in the majors in runs scored. Boston has unders 20-8-2 in its last 30 overall games and Toronto has unders in 16 of the last 21 home games. Hopefully we see 8 runs or less on Tuesday night.

One NBA and 4 NHL bets for tonight for me. I don't see the Flames getting swept at home. The Bruins and definitely more so the Capitals should both win their series, which will be hard to do if they go down 3-1 (both are down 2-1 right now). The Caps are in Toronto, and the Bruins are in Beantown.

WIZARDS -5½
CAPITALS -145
BRUINS -165
DUCKS/FLAMES u5+125
FLAMES -110

I'm on the Bruins.

I'm also on Braves -105 <-- 2 units.

@Hark_The_Sound_2010 you know these chics?

Don't know the young ladies personally. That's Tyler Seguin, he's from Toronto so maybe they're from there.

From what I understand, up there hockey players get women like baseball players get women in the South.

This is true for hockey players around here, and obviously even much more so for hockey players from Canada (which Seguin is). The ladies are affectionally referred to as "puck sluts". We drafted him #2 overall, and we won the cup his rookie year (2011). He kept playing really well for us in the following 2 years, but he also kept enjoying the single 20 year old NHL player lifestyle of banging whoever he wanted whenever he wanted, which caused him to show up late to practices/meetings all the time. Our GM at the time got sick of it and traded him at a steep discount, and he's gone on to be a top 5 player in the league. That GM has since been fired, mostly due to that trade.

@gteeitup and others' thoughts on these props?

Draft Position, Christian McCaffrey -- 9.5
OVER +110 | UNDER -150

Draft Position, Deshaun Watson -- 12.5
OVER -120 | UNDER -120

Draft Position, Mitchell Trubisky -- 6.5
OVER +170 | UNDER -250

Draft Position, Leonard Fournette -- 4.5
OVER -140 | UNDER EVEN

I got McCaffery at over 8.5 at -150

Not really sure about the QB's. I put a half unit on Mitch to go #1 overall at +700, and I have a few units on him to be the first QB taken at -200. I have a half unit on Mike Williams being the first WR off the board at -200.

I would have to figure Fournette won't go in the top 4. I like the over on that one.

I thought the same about Fournette but Mayock has Fournette at #4 to Jax, and said he "wanted" to put him at #2 to San Fran. Matt Miller has Fournette at #4 as well.

Teams drafting in the top 4 are drafting there for a reason, so I'm not confident enough to bet against them taking Fournette in the top 4. I guess I should say they shouldn't draft him in the top 4.

Zeke is good, but he was only that good out of the gate because of what is probably the #1 O-line in the league. None of the teams drafting in the top 4 have that type of O-line.
