Gottfried...

well so much for the 247 crystal ball being wrong. 94% for the morons in raleigh.

He would have sat behind Berry and that was never going to fly with him. I told you all that before.

Why would he sit behind Berry and not have played with him? DSJ said today that teams recruitng him told him to be open playing along side another PG and he said he was fine with that.

....... but I see nothing on Roy. Who has he visited? Why was he not on the doorstep of our top targets at midnight or first thing the next morning of the open period? I'll get blasted by the homers on this board, but IMO Roy has been outworked in recent years and he needs to step it up big time. I use to admire how hard he worked when he beat K for Harrison Barnes and how tirelessly he worked for JP Tokoto and many others. I just don't see that work ethic out of him lately and I think he dislikes the recruiting landscape of today. JMO

Not a homer and not blasting you but if you do some searches you'll find articles about the recruits Roy has visited this week. I just read he visited Brandon Robinson on Thursday and secured an official.
Maybe it's just not on Twitter

Was just him saying all the right things. He wants to be the man.

I don't think they would work well in tandem.

Very much afraid this was all about the shoes again!
Mikey, I had a little post mortem conversation last night with my buddy who followed up on the changes in the AAU scuttlebutt over the past few weeks. A few interesting points:
- DS was doing some serious checking-up on his finalists before and after the injury, and he eliminated dook after his last unofficial foray to durham.
- Roy did indeed make up some serious ground during that time (which would correspond to the infamous Boo Williams tirade). DS has always liked Roy. Other factors were pushing him to moo, yet Ol Roy made a contest out of it. This was a two-team race at the end.
- and what were the "other factors"? You guessed it. 'Has to be da shoes'. Someone in that camp (AAU team related, of course) was getting some big Adidas "push".

It's funny, I was half-joking about Gottfried's helicopter shenanigans, but turns out he was pulling out all the stops because DS had gone from a lock to a probable. Soon as the live period started here comes Gott in his fancy flying machine.
Anyway, nobody can say Roy didn't give it a good shot... against the odds, too. In the end the Adidas push was too much to overcome.

Smith committed to NC State, I am really surprised by this, sucks to but really surprised and disappointed. Say bye bye to bam folks...

How in god's name could you be surprised by Smith committing to State? Seriously dude, it blows my mind. The writing has been on the wall for quite literally MONTHS now that Smith (and Bam Bam too) are going to end up at State.

You must have had your head WAY, WAY buried in the sand to be remotely surprised by Smith going to State. You are one of the most delusional posters on here, but still dude.... anyone with half of a brain could see from miles away that Smith was going to State. It's been that way for months now.

And I just have to laugh my ass off at the guy who said Smith would be sitting behind Joel Berry. Good lord almighty, y'all are delusional.

DSouthr... there was a better chance of NBA teams paying the tuition of college hoops players (I still have to laugh at that idiotic idea) that you suggested a little while back trying to fix the "1-and-done" thing.... than there was of Dennis Smith going to UNC. Let that sink in. The fact that you are actually surprised by this should be a wake-up call to you that you are a delusional homer and need to get a little better grip on reality.

Lol, all this coming from the guy who called recruits "idiots" in the exact same thread he's mocking for trying to go to the NBA early and not being focused on college?

Quick question Nick.... why are you here?
Sure, you don't have to agree with Dave's ideas, Y'know not all of us do all the time, but he's also one of the more respectful and insightful posters on here.
13 posts since 2006? I smell a troll.

Who the f*ck are you? You know nothing. It's easy for you to say this or that now that it's transpired but where were your prognostications before it happened? It takes a pretty bored and juvenile sort to show up at a rival message board just to act like you're some recruiting guru after the fact. I'd tell you to run along back to the duke board but they don't like you any more over there than we do over here. Maybe try Rupp Rafters. Oops...nope, they think you're a douchebag too. A message board poster with no home; boy, that's sad.

Well, nonetheless, I can assure you that after a mod sees your post here, this will definitely not be a place you'll be posting in the future.

Nick are you usually this redundant? You said the same thing over and over you could have shortened the post by 75 percent.

Joel Berry starts over freshman DSJ at Carolina. Better chance of them playing together than starting over Berry.

Berry I could see being all-acc this year.

Lighten up, Francis.

Lil Nicky the dukie, so as I read this drivel I see one thing i DO AGREE WITH YOU ON, the part where you admit that you have half a brain.

The writing has been on the wall, what wall, show me this so called wall that predicts the future, that wall that is always right? Funny how you offer nothing about that wall of yours BEFORE the fact, most that understand this recruiting stuff realize nothing is set in stone until kids actually make their announcements. But not you, you claim to have a wall with writing on it that is 100% accurate at predicting the future, well heck boss, how about ya share the mega bucks lotto numbers with us, at least you would then provide some value.

DSJ pre-torn ACL could have started for any team in the country his freshman year. Whether it be UNC, Duke, Kentucky, KU etc. The kid, IMO, was that good. I think whatever team he would have went to the coach would have found a way to manage a lineup to where he would have been a starter. I'm not sure what happened between DSJ and Duke, but I would have loved to see this kid play at Duke. I think that he is the best guard in this class, again pre-acl tear and am anxious to see how he comes back from his injury.

I agree, I would say even the same applies post injury. IMO he would have started at UNC had he chose us and that most likely being starting beside Joel Berry. I agree, he just that talented.

But you have to look at area of need as much as talent, the recruits sure do and I have and maintain that the real value of Dennis to us was his ability to sway Bam's destination. Bam IMO is/was direct to what I see as our area of most need. We were not desperate for a point guard not when you consider that in what most believe will be his ONLY season of college ball we will have both Joel Berry and Nate Britt. I was gonna be crowded with Dennis but you find a way to get talent like that on the court. We are not desperate for a off
guard either considering we have Kenny and very likely Britt will swing in as much as a 2 as he will the point (unless Joel blows up and is able to develope in to a lotto guy after the coming season).

Now the goof ball horsvat comes on here and lays in to gut reaction words I used directly after learning that Dennis committed, I since walked those words back but he was not willing to acknowledge that. Shock no, surprised due to some things I had recently heard out of Fayettville yeah, maybe more the timing than anything else.

Dang mikey, ya tomb stoned him before we got the mega bucks lotto numbers from his all knowing wall?

According to a couple other highly ranked players in NC, Smith was telling people over 6 months ago that he was going to State. Gott knew the commitment was coming before he took the helicopter ride. That ploy only looks "cool" if it works. He had assurance that it would work, before he ever took off. Mike is right about the shoes. Same thing with Bam. There is a reason he left his high school in Beaufort County to attend a small private school in High Point.
