Allen will be returning to Duke for his junior season.

Allen quoted earlier today via ESPN sources: "I feel like this is the right place for me to continue to do what I do best. NBA officials and Adam Silver do not seem as appreciative of my talent as the NCAA does. Goals for next season have to be getting at the new guys like Josh Jackson, Malik Monk, and Dennis Smith Jr. I hear that DSJ in particular has small feet so taking him down should be a great challenge and I'm excited for that. Coach K has already promised me I can trip each of our freshman at least once in practice so that was definitely a factor in the decision to come back. It's weird because he promised all of them I was leaving but I know Coach K, like George Washington, has never told a lie so I'm sure it's just a mix up. I'd also like to thank ESPN for promising me a broadcasting job in 2020 if I came back this year. Wait, I'm not supposed to talk about that? Ok. I mean. Cruz 2016."

NICE!!!!! BTW Both the ACC and the NCAA better get those letters of reprimand ready

after all Punkson will be playing and we know what to expect from him

Where was he projected to go in the draft? With the stats he put up this year I can't imagine that his stock would get any higher.

I don't believe that has happened yet so that is anything but a fact. But duke may have a chance to beat us or even sweep us because they should have a loaded team but we heard that same crap from yall last year this time, we hear it from yall every year this time.

But are YOU running out right now and ordering a few thousand 40-0 T-shirts to sell to your dyukies? Same folks that sold them to those fools that were Ky fans will give you a bulk discount! LOL

That duke team next season, I see a whole bunch of chiefs, I don't see any injuns getting playing time?

Well I guess we have heard from the low life's at LTCC. WHY BOTHER with the season really??? I mean LTCC is INEVITABLE Unbeatable ,unstoppable
Just give em the trophy NOW.. NO ONE else has a chance.

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

I actually don't mind when a rival post on the board, but you're not even being original. If you are going to troll at least be funny and put some effort into it.

It took him jurkingoff 3 years to come up with a funny guys. He has been busy perfecting his craft and waiting for this day to finally post from Mom's basement, with a plate of meatloaf and a floor slap.

Guys , as a Duke fan I am really sorry for this idiot !! On another note I enjoyed watching you guys play this year . They played together and shared the ball extremely well. That is the way the game is supposed to be played ! I believe your team next year will be solid (minus unexpected departures) and if you can get some guys to have the normal maturation to there games plus a freshman being ready to go you guys are right there with the top 15 teams in the country . I felt for your kids after the loss . Good luck next year .

That's a big boost for us next season. We will have a very dynamic backcourt with our 4 main guards returning and another coming in. We will be young in the front court (except for Jefferson if his medical redshirt goes through).

We'll have a Junior, 2 Seniors, and a few Sophomores next year to help the young guys along. I'm looking forward to our matchups. They could be the best games in the entire season with the talent and experience out there.

From what I understand, scouts urged Punkson to stay in school and perfect his tripping.

Guess he realized it's harder to trip pros than college kids.

They will be good but bring it on. Allen being there will only make beating them sweeter as we know how he acts in defeat.

With Bolden coming in K will have a 12-man rotation. You guys rock!

Like I said give em the trophy now. The pressure on these guys will be IMMENSE!!! Why it is starting NOW right now. Imagine what it will be like as they steamroll thru the season laying waste to all teams in their Path???

It will be intense as they seek to claim the mantle of greatest college team of ALL TIME!!!

Man that will be something to look forward to..I know I cannot wait as LTCC nation just slobbers all over their head coach Darth Liar er Vader, and his band of storm troopers led by that "warrior" Punkson Whiplash, aka The storm tripper.

Gonna be a bloodbath for everyone else as they trip their way to the mountain top.

BTW I seem to recall that Darth Vader refers to punkson as ....ahole. What a fun and classy group to be a part of....

Meh. Let's see how it plays out. Remember this facts about the year that just finished:

1) Who was ranked #1 along with us at beginning of year? Kentucky
2) Where was Dook ranked preseason? #4
3) Why were these teams ranked this high? Largely because both had "loaded incoming freshman classes, full of 'can't miss' guaranteed stars" (supplemented with a few hangers-on at soph and junior) who would instantly lead them to a Final Four or better (based on their rankings

4) now on to the results - how'd it all go down, in reality world?

Dook: 25-11, S16 exit after a couple bye games in the NCAA tourney.... lost in first game of ACC tourney.... finished 6th in ACC conference.... ended with a generous #18 ranking (14 slots below preseason projection)

UK: 27-9, lost 6 games to non-tourney teams, including several in maybe the weakest Power 5 conference ever in basketball.... S16 exit to a lower seeded, better team..... after Cal whined incessantly about being underseeded.... ended the season also with a quite generous #16 ranking....(15 slots below preseason projection)....

....so....lets just wait and see how things play out on the court - blood, sweat, tears- instead of the media crowning teams based on hyperventilating over incoming 18 year olds hype and stats on paper.

Solid post and I appreciate it, you as well as Sophie.

Tatum is a heck of a talent, Giles if he can fully recover from those knees is as well so you guys should have a hack of a 1 - 2 punch with those fellas. Jackson is a bad man, love his game, I like the 6'8" delaurer (sp) maybe more than many seem to. I kinda felt Allen coming back may put Kennard in more of a back seat role and I really really like what I see in that kid, I wish we had him honestly, maybe even more than any other player duke will have on roster next season because he would be a great fit for our area of need, stone cold jump shooter.

With 2 surgery repaired knees I feel like there have to be question marks now on Giles, how hard will he push things in his one and only college season? Tatum is a monster at the wing, he is a 3 and not a 4 but I wonder, will he come in and feel he has to dominate the ball? This is a show case audition for the NBA situation after all? If Giles is able to go full tilt and Tatum is in place, that ball domination Allen was able to do this season will not work next season, and Frank Jackson is as much 2 guard as point, maybe more a 2. It kinda deals kennard out a little bit and whispers are Thorton is all but transferred so how hard is chemstry going to be? Your big kid freshman from this season really now looks like deep bench, he didn't come to duke to watch full games from the bench. Actually duke may be better off if both leave and not risk the chemistry problems of talents like their banned to the bench.

WE nor Villinova were the most talented teams in the country in this NCAAT but we 2 played in the title game. It matters how a team comes together, to many head chefs can spoil the stew.

I have heard that Jeter is gone as well Anyone else hear this?? LTCC loses so many to transfers after they find out what a liar Vader is....

Keyser, I have heard nothing about the possibility of Chase transferring but These days you never know . It sure is going to be crowded in both BC and FC . Managing egos will be paramount to team success next year and that is not a given . It will take sometime to work out rotations and I would expect some bumps in the road . Do you guys expect all underclassmen back ?

One of the greatest title games of all time was just played.

Number of one-dones in the game. ZERO!

Hope it stays that way for years to come.

Really? UNC was AP pre-season #1 and all season pundits such as Bilas would remark "UNC is the most talented team in the country and if they can put it together ...."

i believe you guys will be in good shape next year . Berry is turning into an elite point guard and that is a great start to a very solid core . If you can get some production ( shooting wise ) at the 2 you guys will be very tough . Post scoring will be a little tougher without Brices mid range game but you have options there . Good luck .

If they learn to defend at a high level, they're going to be really good. Although I don't think any of the freshman coming are as good as Ingram was. Allen coming back certainly doesn't hurt them. And if he comes back, grows up a little, and cuts out the BS in his game... Then good for him. Can't bring that kind of crap to the NBA. He probably wasn't mentally ready for the NBA game at all at this point.

If any coach is equipped to handle an abundance of talent it's K. I welcome that problem with open arms. I did believe and still believe Carolina had the best team this year. I believed that prior to the season. Lots of talent lots of experience usually = best team. It's why I like Duke next year. Matt Jones, Grayson Allen and Amile Jefferson all experienced and accomplished players with a title and were all key contributors to that title. I'm much more excited about next year as opposed to this past year. I felt Duke would have a pretty good season but not a season worthy of being top 4.

I had the same concern, but IMO, Tatum is the only true wing on the team next year. If Jefferson, Giles, and Jeter (maybe Bolden, I don't plan to include him unless he actually commits) are sharing time at C and PF, then I think we'll see a lot of lineups with Jones, Kennard, and Allen playing the wing at times. If Bolden doesn't come in, I think you'll even see Tatum at the PF at times with 3 guards, like this year when Jefferson went down and Ingram was the "PF" in the lineup.

That would be my guess. So really you'd have some combination of Tatum, Kennard, Allen and Jones sharing time at SG and SF. Maybe even Jackson too. I really think the backcourt will be very dynamic with combinations of 6 guys in 3 or 4 spots depending on personnel. Pair that with Thornton and Jackson at PG, and it could be fun (I know there is transfer talk, but I won't include that until it's official).

Bilas always talks very highly of UNC. UNC had some talent but so did other teams. Heck, Duke had like 7 AAs and two players who will probably be drafted higher than anyone on our entire team. The depth issue is more on K than the talent. That is why Duke was AP pre-season # 4 (I believe).

A Grayson Allen thread is dominating this board right now!!..who cares about those clowns..only reason they're giving us props is because we lost!!..they took a big sigh of relief and gave a big thank you to god after that game!!..take this thread over to whatever it's called!!

You confuse talent with team, we were ranked the best team based on experience and depth, we were not considered the most talented team. Actually duke, ky, and kansas were considered more talented. Going in to this past season we did not have a single player that was considered a lotto selection, we did not have a single player considered to be a NBA starter, not sure that has changed much since with the maybe exception of Brice and the lotto but even that depends on who you believe.

Example, look at Ky in 2015, amazing talent on that team but that talent was raw and they never really formed a great team, they were like a all star team playing and they lost to a team that played together but had far less talent.

Duke had how many 5 stars on this past team? Now I will be the first to say that star ratings don't mean squat, what matters is how a kid plays once he gets to this level. But my dukie buddy swears all you need to know is how they were rated coming in so in his honor I will add that your dukies had more star ratings than we had, than nova had, both your dukies and Ky (who was a swell loaded with star raters) caught plane rides back home after the sweet 16.
