I am happy he had & has the integrity, character, and will to dig out of an unimaginable scary environment / upbringing. It bodes well for him in the rest of his life.
I wish him well on the court, too, but I still just feel very anxious when he is on the court. If we are in games that really matter (ie - NCAA tourney and conference), and we NEED big contributions from him, that is very bad news, and something really went wrong for us, with Meeks, Brice, and Hicks.
I will never question his effort. I just still see him having way more minus plays ( hideous TO's, blatant fouls, getting beat badly on defense, always a step behind), than plus plays.... I think when he gets the ball on offense he sees the mission as proving he belongs, by forcing up some shot to prove he can score....instead of looking for the best option in the offense, which is never him if anyone else is on the court.
Sorry to post the negative (realist?) stuff about him. He is a feel good story - I just hope people don't project where he's come from regarding a tough background, as him being something more than what he really is ON the court.
