saw a clip from over the pond last week...axl is still terrible, just a shit show.

hopefully it's better for some on the turnaround in the states.

i can't justify paying for it

How can you say it's a shit show after watching a clip? Fact is that I do not know of any entertainer that would be the same as they were 30 years ago. I saw them in 88 and 92. Even then Axel's vocals were not the same as you would hear on their produced music. This is my favorite band. I've said since they broke up. If they reunite, I'm there. This will be a great show.

Bo, I had some friends see them in the Georgia Dome last fall and they said it was incredible. They said Axl's chops obviously aren't what they used to be, but he left it all out on the stage that night. Have fun, man.

i've seen them before so my curiosity was peaked when they reunited...i've also seen more than one clip.

as far as 2-3 year decade difference, cmon man, you know better than that...i can't list all the acts still doing it that sound great, but there are numerous...hope they're good for you, though.

Better than half the crap that's out today.

They are coming to Nashville but I doubt I go. My buddies went when they came last year and said it was really cool.

lol, that means what exactly?

Simply that Gun's is a great true rock band. Had Axl not had all is issues the may have been the biggest ever. They missed a bunch of time but I'm glad thery are back out there. All of their best stuff was never on the radio or a hit but they are a true rock band. And yes they blow most of of this crap that's out today away. There's not much to choose from today unless you like watered down fluff crap. Of course there are many rock bands I like (Seether, Three Days Grace, Avenged Sevenfold, Shinedown, Korn, ) but not like GnR outside of Floyd. But Floyd is only Floyd with Roger Waters.

@tazki no offense, but if you're listing those, you completely missed my point...you just mentioned bands you like, not multi-record successful bands the world has followed for decades.

this discussion is like naming your favorite ice cream...carry on

G N R, Floyd, Metallica, Motley Crue and a host of other old school rock bands are what I listen to the most. There are a few newer bands that are good, but the majority of this new stuff sucks. Guns had an opportunity to be the best band of all time, but they let fame and ego take them down.

They are my favorite and Appetite is IMO the greatest album of all time. From 1-12 each song FN rocked. I can listen to Appetite all day. When you start with Jungle, end with Rocket Queen and have 10 other kick ass songs, you got a Special album. Throw in Estranged, November Rain, Knocking on Heavens Door, Patience, Live and let die, Civil War, You could be mine, Yesterdays, etc. and you can still make the argument that even with the hiatus, they are near the top of the list if you are talking GOAT.

other than facelift, appetite is my favorite album ever...i could argue track for track for each, but they both started a revolution.

the point again is live...they aren't near as good as opening for motley, shared bill with metallica, or headlined with the cult.

it's a lot about axl/slash(although slash still kills) and percussion...steven adler made it work, along with izzy...you'll see

Facelift is so good. GnR's issues weren't all Axl, though he certainly played his part. Still remember the first time I heard 'Sweet Child of Mine' was at church camp, haha. Immediately bought the album when I got home, though I'm not sure how I pulled it off at the time.

I don't know about y'all, but for us, drinking at dead ends or in newly created subdivisions was a main source of entertainment in high school. We'd have as many as 30-40 cars parked along side the newly paved roads and we'd all be just partying in these subdivisions where no one lived yet - just empty lots and spec houses. No album reminds me of those times more than Appetite For Destruction. I can remember hearing 5 different tracks from that album playing at the same time on some of those weekend nights. Up at one end, people huddled around one car would be singing Paradise City and 5 cars down, they'd be singing Sweet Child O Mine. Walk another 5 cars and your hear another track.

Since I'm such a sucker for nostalgia, I'm very fond of that album still. And I liked the Use Your Illusion stuff too. But I have zero interest in going to see GnR in concert these days. I envision a bunch of 50 year old redneck women lifting up their black t-shirts and showing their saggy tits while their bandana clad boyfriends fistfight over who gets the last Budweiser.

Same, but it was weed and Queensryche.

Saw them in concert last winter, and you know what? It wasn't the nightmare scenario you portrayed. A bunch of white people past their prime, sure, but then I realized I was among my people. I go to a fair number of shows where I'm 15 years older than the median attendee. It felt good to just blend in for a change.

Just wanted to report that me and the other 40K in attendance in Winston Salem watch one hell of a show on Friday night. The majority of the crowd was 35 -50, but there were lots of the younger crowd there as well. Slash as usual killed it. The man played hard the whole 3 hour + show. Duff also killed it. Axl sang well, you could tell that he's not 25 anymore, but I'll give him major props. I'll say this. I'll be in attendance when they come back through the area. All of the Appetite songs were sung, with the only major song that they didn't sing being PATIENCE. It was on the set for the encore, but they must have used up some extra time singing extra choruses on the Appetite songs. I hope that they stay together, make more music and tour again. No one touches GnR's Appetite for Destruction from 1-12 that set is hardcore.
