One of my favorite Tar Heels of all time. 40 years young today and still doing his thing in the NBA. I was lucky enough to live in Chapel Hill when Vince was in college and damn was it a treat to watch him play at the DES. My first UNC vs Duke game ever was the game he almost went off the backboard on the alley oop from Easy Ed.

Tar Heel nation wishes you a very happy birthday and many more to come Vince!

He is simply amazing, and loved that reverse spinning layup that he did yesterday....Old men ain't suppose to be able to do that to younger players...lol!

Happy birthday Vince!

My favorite dunk of his in college was the oop he caught in the ACC tournament against Clemson.

My favorite dunk of his in the NBA was this one where he absolutely humiliates Zo.

The olympic one is the one I kept scrolling down looking for. Amazing. There is a cool video on ESPN right now about his draft class - with Dirk and Paul Pierce. Vince Carter is really fun to watch.
Who threw those ally oops in the 50 dunks at UNC? There's one guy that seems to throw most of them. He is damn good at it. Of course, Vince probably makes it easier...just throw it close-ish.

I didn't watch the video you're referencing but undoubtedly, the guy you're talking about is Ed Cota. And yes, there's never been a player that throws the alley oop better than Ed Cota. And there haven't been too many guys that have ever handled the ball like Ed Cota. If you're a duke fan and unfamiliar with Ed Cota, then I'd peg you to be under the age of 25.

Not terribly close on age. But I'm a newer Duke basketball fan so you're half right. Watching that video, you could just tell from the passing motion it was the same guy over and over again throwing the ball....sometimes from way out. It's a cool video.

Cota made good team mates look great, and great ones look amazing! He also made quality defenders look like gravity challenged spastic goofballs.
