Jus' curious . . . do you remember the marathon and and/or what cause it was solicting/sponsor . . ?

I think when I was like 15 or so, there was a marathon on an AM/FM radio station asking for donations for a local cause and I donated $10 to it . . . mostly cause the were reading the names of donators over the air and I wanted to hear my name read over the air. (around 1967 IIRC)

I think I may have contributed to one or two of those Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Marathons that always surfaced on Labor Day Weekend. Which I used to hate when there were only 4 channels on TV back in the day and to have one of them just broadcasting phone numbers. I was already in a down mood for having to start school on Labor Day Tuesday . .

Whatja got OOTB, anything . . . ?

Even if you never have donated anything ever, you could always just make up a BS lie and post it . .

I once donated to the NACHO association, which is to promote the awareness of obesity in children.

j/k, I've never given to anything like that.

I donate regularly to a small public radio station out of Gaston College in Dallas, NC (WSGE). They play lots of great independent artists, including a lot of locals. They also have a weeknight Blues show, and on the weekend they play Shag and Gospel. It's a pretty representative blend of North Carolina music with the exception of Bluegrass.

I used to donate to World Cafe on WXPN radio out of the University of Pennsylvania. I started listening to the show when it started about 25 years ago and now it has affiliates all over the country. That was an important source of new music for me before internet streaming exploded. It's still a great show although I don't listen to it as often as I used to.
