HB and JMM...

I do agree with you gun on the part of many older players would have a hay day on todays no touch foul system. Some could have scored a ton more.

Worthy for example was a career 17 and 5 guy and never had a year of more than 21 and 6. But IMO, under the current rules, Worthy could be a 28 and 10 type of player. He was a really, really good player of the 80s and 90s. But if he played now, he'd be a top 5 player in the league.

Now take a guy much less heralded from that same era - say, Ricky Pierce. That guy was a career 15 ppg scorer with a handful of seasons between 20 and 22. IMO, he'd be close to a 30 ppg scorer in today's NBA.

I can only imagine what guys like Mitch Richmond, Dale Ellis, Drexler and Wilkins could have done to the league under these rules. Holy cow.

MJ took far more of a beating than LeBron could ever claim. That's for sure. And he still toyed with the league. That's why I mentioned in an earlier poast that I believe average players from the 80s and 90s could score 40 or so in today's NBA game. And it's why I believe there is absolutely no comparison bewteen LeBron and MJ, Magic, Bird or other guys from yesteryear.

Agree here. Jordan and Pippen got hammered by the Pistons for years before they finally got to the NBA finals. LeBron definitely didn't go through that kind of obstacle to win his first.

The problem is that they cut down on the amount of contact allowed by defenders, but have continued to allow contact by ball handlers. I like the way the game was played in the 80s, where there was a lot of contact from both sides - and it was a much more physical style. Even more so than that I like the way that basketball was originally intended to be played, where any contact was supposed to be off limits, and it was more a game of skill and shooting, as opposed to strength and driving.

The way the game is now - people just bulldoze their way to the rim and if they get even a 1/4 as much contact in return, they're going to the line. I hate that people like Dwight Howard and DeAndre Jordan have been NBA stars. Neither one of those guys can shoot a basketball at all. They only score when they can literally put it right into the basket on a dunk. Thats also why I like Curry better than LeBron. Curry gets open off the dribble and can shoot (skill) from anywhere. LeBron can't dribble, he only travels, and isn't a great shot - but gets his points by bullying his way to the basket (strength).

Its on, now! Man do I hate me some LBJ! Harrison better pick it up, but I just sense the Cavs are going to hit a buzz saw on Sunday. And I don't think you'll see the league fixing the series for the Cavs like they did in game 5 (and 6). Here's hoping the Splash Bros drop about 20 3's on the Cavs, and Dray, TBF, etc throw in about 8 more. I'm hoping for a beat down. I think its hard for Cleveland to win 3 in a row. I doubt LBJ gets away with his usual reckless abandon, in Oracle, with Dray on the floor, in game 7.

I've seen this on social media as well, but the league had nothing to do with the Warriors having the worst scoring first quarter in the Finals in the shot clock era. Guys like Barnes and Iggy have to hit wide open shots when they get them, plain and simple.

Agreed. I was sloppy with my post. I guess my underlying point was, that if Queen James, the biggest overrated pu$$y in league history hadn't gotten Dray suspended in game 5 I don't think there's any way it would've gotten to game 6.

I suppose league officials are waiting patiently by the phone to get the call from LBJ - him telling them to suspend Curry for getting tossed at the end of game 6. LBJ can't take any chances. Its not like he's got a stellar record when called to be THE MAN when to close the deal for a title. He has 2, but the one over San Antonio was a super-fluke, totally won by an incredible shot / comeback by (not LBJ) Ray Allen IIRC. Zero respect for that whiny b__ch LeBron.

I heard Kerrs post game presser, he seems pissed. He said they are a cutting and rythm team, and if your going to let cleveland hold Curry and Thompson on their cuts, then you cant call ticky tack fouls on us. Lets see if they let them play on Sunday and call those holds on Cleveland. If they do, we know they are actually calling a true even NBA game.

Harrison has been killing his team the last two games.. he needs to make the open shots
Yes. He is capable of being a big time player. My criticism of him is - he has had very good games when at least some other guys on their team have also been playing well.... but at least lately if a lot of other guys have been struggling, he hasn't been a guy they can turn to as an alternative.... a guy who can carry the team, at least for a stretch, and keep them in a game.

I've seen he is capable of it. But the last two games have been pretty concerning, I assume, for Harrison, and for Kerr's confidence in how to use / rely upon Harrison.

This is very smart. I'm not saying these comments guarantee a GSW win on Sunday, but I think they help set the tone of how the game will be called.

I didn't see the presser and couldn't stand to watch one minute of the game, but from what you've posted the comments are probably going to get Kerr a fine. I'm guessing its worth it to him, to send a message for game 7. I assume he has enough money.

I think Kerr is a pretty darn good coach for what you need in the NBA game. T Lue.... meh. When I've heard him, he seems a lot like a guy who just rolls the ball out and hopes for the best. Nothing special in terms of coaching, but works out pretty well with LeBron and Irving, vs. the "competition" in the East.

Barnes has been cold the last 2 games. Wonder if he still will get the max contract.
Danny Green got 4 years 40 mill last year. I guess Barnes can command 14-16 mill a year since he has more size and is younger? But he doesn't do much more for you compared to a guy like Danny Green.

I just don't see Barnes getting a max contract but in the lunacy of the NBA you never know. I think he may wish he had taken the GSW offer.
