It’s early but San Diego State can’t score but they defend. That’s their identity. San Diego State has a lot of size and depth in their frontcourt. San Diego State wants to play slow and defend their way to a win.
I typically like UNC against teams that are slow tempo, defense first teams. But they’ve obviously struggled against size which San Diego State has.
I would favor UNC by 3 points or so. And it’s a game I think they should win.
Early x factor. San Diego State is in the 300’s in FT percentage. For an offensively limited team at times, they leave points on the floor.
Tempo will be important in this game. San Diego State ranks 254th in tempo. So a battle of style. I don’t think San Diego State has the skill as of now.

On the other end of that, jeez, they gave Pitino the easiest path of the 1/2 seeds.

Sweet 16 being possible is correct. But also possible is losing rather badly in the play-in game. Up and down inconsistent play defines Davis's teams.
They also are traditionally every bit as "physical" as say, a Houston on Tennessee.
Need to focus on our first opponent. They have a big frontcourt. They could wreck our frontcourt very easily.
They know who they are and do not deviate from. Win or lose really

Overall the UNC team is not that bad but the thing that is the biggest head scratcher is the inconsistent use of players and game play/coaching. We are surely thin in the middle but this yrs. group was thin in the post from day one but that doesn't mean you have to totally avoid a post game. Our best games recently have come from involving post presence and attacking the basket. Guess that goes back to game coaching and player use. jmo

Espn’s scoreboard says UNC plays Tuesday. I would guess its the second game.
I think both Ian and EC's development have been slowed by RJ's extended stay. Providing all return I think EC/pg, IJ/sg,/Drake/3 and Wash as a solid inside out 4 could lay the groundwork for a formidable team Then you need a big body true 5 to make some magic. And although I think Brown has a ton of potential inside I just don't think he will have bulk next year. jmo
