Heels hosting Illini game thread

this offense is so hard to watch...the lack of rhythm is mind numbing.

then you watch a team that also likes tempo in the same game and they look like they have an idea.

MW stinks......he cannot throw the ball...running the football is his only attribute.....again no passing accuracy

Defense holding this game together. Need the O to score. Switzer having a horrible game. Dropped a wide open TD and lost 10 yards on that punt return. Needs to focus on what is best for the game.

If we get a stop here Fed should get Mitch a drive while the game is still somewhat competitive

I missed a lot of action with a family low scale emergency. I came back in front of the TV to see Switzer make a catch he should always make for a TD.

This is becoming an impressive beat down. Makes losing to Usuck even worse. Could have been a great start to the season. Oh well, move on to Delaware and pray for a miracle at GT.

This has been a very enjoyable game to view . . and a great way to start off Saturday football.

GO HEELS . . . !

Well, as much as I was on MW after the SC game, I will give him props for coming back after the early INT and having a pretty dang good game. Over 200 yards passing and over 100 rushing and not another turnover. Kid stepped up, so good for him and I hope he keeps it up.

I was in the car listening to the crew call the game and they started reeling off who had touches today and it was mind blowing. We have SO many offensive weapons you cannot guard them all. We spread it all over today and while no one guy outside of Switzer blew it up, everyone had really good days.

I honestly didn't expect this kind of blowout against the Illini. I really thought it would be a close game and might even come down to the last few plays of the game. The fact the defense held them to 7 points is pretty good, although they gave away 14-21 or so points on drops and stupidity. Still, the defense is SO much better this year.

He should have had 4 TD's through the air and he had a couple of passes just dropped or his numbers would have been even better. Solid game.

Pretty nice, dominating win over a Big 10 school. Not a perfect game, but they're getting better, I think. The Ga Tech game is going to tell the tale.

that's a big win for the team's confidence...to shut down a pretty good offense and to make plays, it's big.

however, i still don't get what the offense is trying to do other than get as many plays called as possible.

GT is now down to ND 23-7.

VT is whalloping Purdue, and Miami is all over Nebraska.

I spoke too soon about Miami. Now the 20 point lead is down to 8. Golden is being Golden.

If I am Miami AD, and the Canes lose this, I would fire Golden tomorrow.

Down 8, the Huskers now have the ball across midfield, and Miami has another targeting penalty. And it was targeting with the helmet at the head of an opponent.

33-33

Golden should be fired, and half that team should be told it either gets some smarts or goes home.

My take aways from this game:

1) After playing horrible vs the cocks, Quise over came a early int to have a very solid game. His passing was pin point accurate in that second half and had a couple easy catches dropped, one to Switzer should have been a TD.

2) Our kicking game is dramatically improved from last season, last season we sweated just getting a successful point after and now we kicking FGs.

3) Our secondary is night & day from last season, opposiong QBs are getting time to throw (to much) but the secondary has made the completion tuff.

4) Defensive line and LB IMO have trouble getting off blocks and making a clean hard tackle. We do not get enough pressure on opposing QBs and we are going to have to pay for that at some point.

5) Ours o-line is not really big but they seem to find a way to get some holes for our backs and our scheme limits pressure on our QB.

6) We have as good a set of tail backs and WRs as any team in the country.

HUGE PLAY, they were 3rd & long and ran a crossing pattern over the middle had their guy open for the first but our dlineman tipped the ball, huge play cause the route was on shortly after. Was saying to myself before that snap, if we can stop them here this game may be over, we did and it was !
