The Tar Heels play at Duke on Thursday night, so here is what Larry Fedora said the schedule is for this week:
The staff started preparing for Duke not long after Fedora’s postgame presser ended Saturday afternoon.
*The players are off Sunday while the staff puts together about 90 percent of the game plan.
*Monday is normally an off day for the players, but they will practice Monday. It will be shortened to about 15 periods and the guys will be in shorts and shoulder pads.
*Tuesday, they will have another 5-period practice in spiders.
*Wednesday, they will work on drives and special teams, and the players will in just helmets.
“The key is making sure they’re fresh on Thursday. It is a big deal how much energy they use in a game," Fedora said. "They’ll be beat up, bruised, all those things, so the key is just making sure they are fresh on Thursday.
“As a coach, you’re wanting to put in things, game plan all these things, but you’ve got really two days (and) they’ve got to be able to execute it. So it’s really more about them being mentally fresh.”
