Heels Think They're in and are Planning Accordingly

I still can’t comprehend how we lost that Stanford game.
The Michigan State game was against a mentally tough team while we were still trying to figure out things on our end… I can live with that.
But losing to Stanford was puzzling and disheartening.
I mean… they probably should’ve lost to Notre Dame and Boston College. They had a season where they probably were fortunate to win some close games. And unlucky to lose some close games too.

That’s what happens to inconsistent teams.

The College Basketball World reacts to UNC getting in the Big Dance

I love the way this sets up for us. I think this team has the ability to make a run in this bracket.
Milwaukee has the potential to be a home crowd for us with all of those Chicagoland UNC grads coming up… and everyone related to Seth Trimble and JP Tokoto is close by.
Having the south regional in Atlanta would also give us a decent chance vs MSU.
In the famous last words of Captain John Mason, “forget Maui.”

Yep, as some have said, it's up to our guys to come out with "chip-on-shoulder", "hair-on-fire" and any other sports cliche you can think of, and hope we get a ref or two not afraid to blow their whistle on the "physical" junk...

Playing San Diego st. They’re usually good
I wonder if they needed a "money" team to go against SDS to keep the advertisers happy?

Not a knock against SDS but I imagine a lot more eyeballs will be drawn to UNC-SDS than Boise St-SDS.

If money was the clincher, I imagine it came down to UNC and Indiana.

Dude, give it a rest. Putting us in that play-in game was nothing more than a little shot of disrespect because they could NOT legitimately look at the actual numbers and leave us out.

In other words, that slight was purely for the media.
Dude, you literally got exactly what you wanted and are still mad lol.

Dude.
I'm not mad, just pointing out facts. Sounds like you're the one who's mad.
I'm not the one blaming hidden conspiracies, the media, and everyone else but our own team for not doing enough to earn more than a play-in bid in the selection committee's eyes. The only conspiracy people will believe now is that Bubba meddled to get us in, rather than some imaginary figure in the shadows of sports media conspiring to rob us of an 11 seed (lol) by making us a play a play-in game to get it. That's just absurd.

Beggars can't be choosers. Here's a brilliant idea: You want a better seed next time? Tell Hubcap to win better games so he's not at the mercy of the whims of gray hairs. 🤯i know.

Besides, if we're as good as you were claiming before 6 PM who gives a hoot about a play-in game? We should have no problem dispatching SDSU to get to the real tournament since all those rankings said we deserved it.

I got most of it right for the first 4. Non conference scheduling is a tried and true factor. I would of had West Virginia in instead of Xavier though.

Man, unreal all the haters. ALL the analysts, CBS and ESPN, I've never seen anything like it. No one has spoken up to remind them there are many metrics used to make these decisions, not just quad 1 stuff. How can these folks claim to be analysts when they aren't analyzing... Did I hear Bilas claim Indiana as oposed to UNC??? I do however get the concern, UNC unable to beat top tier teams but gets to be a part of the tier tourney? But again, the committee doesn't look at a single metric(quad 1 wins), they compile a group of metrics to get a more precise view of each team and their value. I am fully convinced, the media are haters of UNC bball

Not a ton of conference tournament chaos helped UNC a lot.

There is no denying the PUBLIC campaign that has been waged by ESPN and others to keep us out. Their talking heads have been saying it OUT LOUD, and were still bitching about us getting in this evening. So don't be coming at me with that garbage.

As I already posted, I am fine with playing Tuesday, but us literally being the last team in is, and was, ridiculous.

Bingo.

I think the questions are legit. I had them in, but it was a coin flip with a few, any of the last couple could legitimately be questioned in my opinion. I think West Virginia has the best argument for being on the wrong side.

OK Gary, what makes the obvious, anti UNC bias more ridiculous this year is these "analysts" discuss UNC not good enough for the field of 68 but then, in the same breath claim this team could do some damage and go on a run. Seriously, a number of them actually think they could win some games. Wtf

Exactly, I was literally shaking my head while laughing at those jokers while watching that. 😆

That doesn't bother me much at all. Both can be true. Being a capable/dangerous team is different then the season long body of work.

It happens all the time in pro sports. The "if they get in they are dangerous, and can make some noise" teams. Problem is you have to get in due to your regular season long results.

The tremendously hard schedule Carolina played this year should help them with their game against San Diego State. The Aztecs have been solid the last couple of years and beat Houston this season but I do not believe playing in the Mountain West have helped them get ready for a team like North Carolina who has been battle tested all year
