Heels Think They're in and are Planning Accordingly

The tremendously hard schedule Carolina played this year should help them with their game against San Diego State. The Aztecs have been solid the last couple of years and beat Houston this season but I do not believe playing in the Mountain West have helped them get ready for a team like North Carolina who has been battle tested all year
If they can beat Houston, they can damn sure beat the Heels. Wouldn’t be a bit surprised if we lost to SDSU. Because the Heels aren’t fundamentally sound, we generally lose to decent teams unless we shoot very well. That is problematic for a team that doesn’t shoot the ball particularly well. Our offense, defense, and rebounding aren’t usually good enough to offset a poor shooting effort. I’m happy for the men on the team that they made the tournament. Now let’s see if they can win some games.

SDSU beat Houston in one of those late Nov tourneys in a close game. Frankly, those early season tourneys you see a lot of upsets, major programs are trying different combinations of players, teams are just getting going. Just as we had a poor Maui tourney this season. This UNC team has played 4 of the top 5 teams in the country today,

National media can poopoo UNC in this thing all they want, UNC fans can disagree if they want but this team right now is playing like a top 20 team rather than a team in the play in game of this tourney. At this point of the season everyone has their back to the wall, we have had our backs to the wall for 11 games or so now, others hope to get in to that mode, we have been in it for a good while. The #1 team in the country (with or without Cooper Flag) knows how lucky they were to escape with that win in Charlotte, they know we blew them out in that second half. If I were a SDSU fan, don't think I would book my flight to Milwaukee just yet.

We will have to score mostly outside .. sdsu has alot of bigs. If maroon shows back up & I expect him too he swats alot away .. tough inside against charmin

People here are talking about all the other teams in the south region, but not mentioning who would be our first opponent IF we get a win Tuesday: Ole Miss.

They were middle of the pack in SEC with some wins against heavyweights like Tennessee and Auburn I believe. I think Ole Miss would be #2 team in ACC this year, #3 behind Duke and Clemson at worse.

If we go into this game, not ready from the tip (which frankly has been our M.O. for 80-90% of our games this year, especially against good teams....) this game will be over (and not in a good way) by halftime. Which would be a fitting trademark performance for this team this year.

There is no denying the PUBLIC campaign that has been waged by ESPN and others to keep us out. Their talking heads have been saying it OUT LOUD, and were still bitching about us getting in this evening. So don't be coming at me with that garbage.

As I already posted, I am fine with playing Tuesday, but us literally being the last team in is, and was, ridiculous.
Your entire conspiracy hinges on the idea that the selection committee give two sh*ts about the media's critique of their choices. They've left out better teams than us with zero explanations.
This alleged "campaign" you are complaining about will amount to a few days of bad headlines at best, and we have a chance to prove all doubts and haters wrong by WINNING and continue to win. That starts Tuesday. If we lose, then they were right about us all along.

And as far as influence over the actual choices goes, I'd wager having your AD as the head of the selection committee probably has a little more sway than the media pushing a narrative about over who got screwed.

A few days of bad publicity and a chance to keep dancing is more than fair considering the real alternative was leaving us out all together.

The only focus they should have is SD State. Toss-up type game in a 1 and done tournament. The assistant coaches job is scouting for potential next opponent. Zero thought for Ole Miss or any other hypothetical matchup down the line for the team or Hubert.

When you say "they've left out better teams", would you share them and why they are better? And please, don't use this quad 1 argument, it's so tired. I'm confident you will share your views based on broader, more applicable metrics that all these "analysts" conveniently ignore.

SMU in 2014 and Murray St. in 2015 were both ranked in the top 25 at the end of the season and were left out of the tournament. I'll let you do the math on that one.

Hmm, ok sure, whatever that meant... Anyway I guess you don't want to answer the question I asked. Just ignore the opportunity to back up your claim.

Are you really so infirm that you can't piece together how a ranked team being left out of the tournament is worse than an unranked team being left out of the tournament? Because if so, there's no point in discussing anything with you; you're just not the brightest crayon in the box.

It's ok, you don't have to answer a simple question to explain your baseless claim. I didn't actually think you would be able to anyway. Honestly, all the so called analysts would be in your same shoes if they were called out too. Its ok tho, a lot of people get called out and then respond with unrelated arguments and insults when they are cornered. Happpens all the time in politics. BTW, I'm not your enemy

I think you need to go back to the beginning and read the posts this time. He said better teams have been left out, he didn't say "this year". He then gave an example of 2 ranked teams that were left out in the past. I think that's a pretty good example of "better teams" that were left out. I'm not sure what it is you're trying to get from him.

I read that a bit differently than you and found "this year" was implied within the text, AND that Rose supported those better team arguments. If I misinterpreted the message and concluded incorrectly, then I sincerely apologize. Given all the negative noise surrounding this team and the invite, I guess I'm a bit on edge, tired of hearing the repetitive, weak arguments.

Yes, I was talking about in the past, not specifically this year. And I also thought you were trying to pretend to not understand why a Top 25 team being left out is more egregious than our case. My bad for getting heated near the end. I've also been dealing with trolls and disingenuous people on both sides of the argument since the selection show so I'm a little testy, too.

Oh man, I missed that point, thanks for clearing it up for me. Well, you got heated because of my ignorance and for that I apologize.
I would agree, in this situation, a ranked team with better metrics being left out WOULD be more egregious. We are on the same side, just took a little bit more to see it, lmao.
