Roy and the Nation Champion Heels are in the news today. We will not visit the White House.

"North Carolina’s 2017 national championship men’s basketball team will not visit the White House, a team spokesman said on Saturday, though the Tar Heels were invited to visit, as is the custom for teams that win college men’s basketball and football national championships."

Misleading topic.

The article said they were invited. They wanted to go. They tried 9 different dates out but could not find one that satisfied both sides. Thus, they were unable to secure a date to do so and thus won't be going.

Not sure how I was misleading. Topic simply says we will not be visiting the White House - like most national champions do... which we aren't. I quoted the first sentence in the story, which says we were invited. You really have to twist things up in your own mind to find that misleading.

Cuz it doesn't have the full story or context which allows for vagueness to create your own story as to why that is when it already sufficiently states why.

So you're saying I should have simply posted the full report from the newspaper? I'm taking that as what you're saying. OK, well, 1 that's their work, I gave the source so everyone can read it for themselves. 2. I don't think the powers that be around here would appreciate it very much if I just plastered up a full story about our team from any outside source. I'm sure they wanna cover it for themselves. So sorry, I'm not sorry for offending your delicate childish petulant little sensibilities.

Don't know why you are so insulted because it was pointed out your topic was misleading.

I am not offended in any way. I just pointed out the context to give better information regarding it.

If you are too burdened to post the whole article, you could always not copy and paste a small paragraph from it and instead just link the source so people can read it themself.

Your topic makes it vague and almost lends you to believe that with current events surrounding the Warriors that UNC chose not to attend the white house as a political statement. Posting the actual whole story or link to the source shows that is not the actual reasoning and provides said reasoning.

This topic being cut off with just a singular paragraph is not much different than when ESPN and others cut off quotes in their headlines to imply something was said or worse than it actually was to try and get you to click on the article.

In this case, you just cut off the article with a portion of it. No big deal, but it is misleading.

Nailed it.

Dude, he quoted a paragraph from an article and didnt reference the Warriors or Trump. Give it a rest and Stop making up an issue. My lord, Trumpies are so sensitive.

Couldn't arrange due to schedule conflicts The same thing happened in 05 and I am not sure but I do not think Trump was president then .The left and the author of this post are just trying to stir the pot. Facts of course do not matter to some.

Well the clear question when you read the banner headline of our Heels not visiting the White House is why. Add a link or explain why and it would be fine but to not include either is deceptive because it implies the opposite of why they actually will not visit.

I'm disappointed. I hoped the reason they aren't going is because they are taking a moral stance against a president who sees no difference between the KKK and fascists versus those who oppose racism and fascism.

Had to pour some water on this fire before it got out of control

On one hand Roy might not want to go if he cant get the entire team (Meeks, Bradley, Hicks, Britt, Stilman, am I missing a senior walkon?). But it is entirely possible Roy is protecting some of his players that do not want to go with "we could not find a date that works for both parties".
That's what I was thinking.

A Republican was President in 2005 as well. Dean and Roy didn't/don't like Republicans. That is one of the few places they are wrong. They play politics with a public university. Had Hilarity been elected they would absolutely have made sure to go. They "found time" in 2009 when Obama was the Prez.

I didn't vote for Hillary, but she wouldn't be aligning herself with fascists and KKK members and the like. She wouldn't be pretending those who oppose racism and fascism are just as bad as fascists and racists. Trump has done those things repeatedly.

nobody really knows though.

i don't particularly care for her, but i bet she's not on twitter or at a speaking engagement making idiotic comments about athletes if she had been elected.

This has become a political commentary and would be glad to participate but is my understanding that it is not allowed for this forum. I certainly would not be touting those using fascists and racists tactics to stifle free speech as being against such things if I were to make a political comment.

But pertaining to this topic, I believe I will take the word of the program as it was released and not assume Roy or any of our AD staff lied about what occurred or why.

I took the opposition to the way the OP was written differently. To me, it sounded like using that one sentence was a way to incite Trump supporters to rail against Roy. Posting the real reason they aren't going doesn't support that agenda. I didn't see anything in the OP that should upset those who are against Trump. Then again, I don't spend enough time here to get to know all the members & their political affiliation, so the posters political opinions didn't factor into my interpretation of their posts. I also don't read everything with a political bias.

I am not a fan of either of them. Roy has publicly made his distaste for Trump known. History shows he goes when a democrat is in office, and doesn't when a republican presides. I think it reflects poorly on Roy and on UNC. It is his right to behave that way. It is my right not to like it. :D

if you feel so strong why don't you go in their place so we can end this
topic

You are aware Obama and Hillary were very close to the now dead Klansman Robert Byrd? LMFAO. He recruited over a hundred into the Klan I wonder how many black people died because of him. So Hillary did align herself with a Klansman. Clinton also praises Margaret Sanger a eugenicist. You know who else were eugenicist? Hitler and the entire Nazi regime.

If fascism ever comes to America, it will come in the name of liberalism - Ronald Reagan

The left has turned fascism. Instead of actual debate y'all support people like Antifa just because they claim to be "anti-fascist". Antifa is literally the brown shirts that played a role in the rise of Hitler.

This is why I stay off the political board on this site. Not just stupid, but dumb redneck stupid. This will be my last post on this thread. Just let me put goober and B3rry on ignore.

Here I thought we were talking about the Tar Heels. Now we're talking about people I've never heard of. The propaganda is better suited on another board.
