Hey there Heels! Decided to bring the family out for a Heels game being a life-long Carolina fan, and this weekend is it. Question for you all: with the game being sold out, and prices being what they are on the after-market sites, what are the scalping odds like for decent seats? There will be 5 of us and i'm willing to split up if need be. Also, any tips on local places to eat or see, it would be greatly appreciated!!

Hey Larry ... the Miami prices will somewhat depend on what happens Wednesday night. If the Heels win you can add 25% to the street prices for the Miami game. I'd say you're looking at a minimum of $75/seat for Miami, for "decent" seats (uppers). You'll have a very hard time finding 5 seats together, to be honest. And of course, if you wait until right before tip off (or shortly after) you'll pay a bit less for the tickets.

You should definitely check out the UNC bball museum (located right next to the Dean Dome, google their website for hours). Eating? There are tons of options .... I'd recommend Tylers Tap Room in Carrboro (10 minutes from the Dome) or Top of the Hill on Franklin Street (for the REAL Chapel Hill gameday experience) or Squids for more of an upscale meal (also 10 minutes from the Dome).

If you're in town for more than a day or so, the best local restaurants are actually in Durham, primarily downtown. Let me know if you need a few Durham specifics. Enjoy the trip and GO HEELS !!

You could eat before or after the game given the tip time, Squids is nice, you could scoot from there over to the Friday Center do the park and ride in and out, much faster than sitting in traffic, if you are early and the weather is nice walking campus is always fun, definitely see the museum, or you could do all this after the game, try to take a stroll around the concourse and check out the pics of many of the teams, be sure to say hello to my grandfather in the 1924 team pic! ;)

Thanks for the help guys, and will certainly take in the museum! Appreciate the dining tips as well--it's always nice to find the good local spots when possible.
Certainly should have gotten on the tickets earlier but we decided late to do this and of course it was sold out by the time we pulled the trigger.
Wish we could've held on to Marcus but to say UNC was his dream school for years is an understatement. Great player, but a better kid.

Guys. My wife wants take me to a game next year. Are there tickets available outside of the Smith Center for Duke typically? If so, how high do they run. I am thinking this will be my only time here so I want to try to catch a Duke game and a second game when I visit.

Street prices for a dook game depend heavily on how highly ranked both teams are. If it's a top 5 matchup I've seen prices well over $1k per for mediocre seats. If UNC is not highly rated, prices are more like a couple hundred.

Thanks for the info. Craigslist looks like a good option for any other game. Hoping to spend a week and hit as many games as I can. Might even watch a State or Dook game if it falls right and I can get tickets. Might be an expensive week but only do it once!

Honestly, if you are going to try and get Duke tickets, I would say just do it on StubHub or something. That way you don't have to worry about the stress of finding a decent scalper price before the game and deal with all that madness. You aren't going to want to be in Chapel Hill, seeing all the people in Carolina Blue on Franklin Street and not be able to catch the game. The prices for the game tomorrow night are like $220 and up, but at least you can figure out exactly where you are going to be seated, have some options, and know that the tickets will be legit. If your stomach can take the stress, you can always try and hit the scalpers after the game has started. You might have luck looking on Franklin Street earlier in the evening. I have had good saints in the past sell me tickets for face value to some big games, but it is always hit or miss of course.

Just my opinion.

And for what its worth, my first ever Carolina/Duke game at the DES was the year Vince Carter had the missed alley off the backboard from Cota. I can't remember what I paid for the tickets, but I remember EVERYTHING about the game and have that memory for a lifetime. My seats were pretty high up in the upper level, but it didn't matter once the game started and the crowd was going nuts. You can't put a price tag on that.

Are the upper level seats that bad? I'm finding some seats on the baseline up in the "x" (and similar) rows that I see are near the last or the last rows. That's pretty much the only thing left and figured if they're not horrid, I'd grab them and be done with it.

I'm from Cedar Rapids, Iowa--life long Tar Heel..went to Chapel Hill for the 1st time for last years Iowa game with a bunch of Hawk fans...(result was terrible) but I loved Chapel Hill..we were 10 rows up mid court, bought online..Went the museum (a must) and check the Blue Horn Lounge on Franklin, loved that place..they took care of me because I was immersed in Black and Gold, thank you ol Blue Horn
