Hey, Roy ... Just a few observations that may be of help, particularly the next time we play the Dookies ...
(1) It's okay to call a time-out, especially if the team seems to be struggling. There's not going to be an award given to the NCAA coach who called the fewest TO's in a season, so let's not have that as an objective. Maybe you don't like to call time-outs because you're often at a loss as to what to tell the guys. In that case, just make the call, sit down and let the assistants handle the instructions.
(2) Ever tried to start a car without gas? It just won't go anywhere without a functioning engine. Joel is this team's engine. When it became apparent tonight that we were going nowhere with the engine out of service, you probably should have rolled the ol' dice and put Joel back in the game, four fouls or not. By the way, it's relatively easy to determine how the game is going by occasionally checking out the scoreboard.
(3) You obviously haven't noticed, but the Dookies like to take the ball to the paint and kick it out for a 3-point shot. They've only been doing this for years, so I can understand how it might have escaped attention. Perhaps it would help if our guys DIDN'T all collapse to the paint leaving those they're supposed to be guarding wide open on the perimeter. Just a thought.
No charge for the suggestions! GO HEELS!
