Hey Star Wars nerds

Pitiful thing is Boba's origin has be expressly detailed in the novels. Now that Disney owns Star Wars, they will milk it to death. Star Wars will mean much less to this generation than it did to mine. I watched the first movie at a drive in theater when I was 5 years old. My very first movie. Was hooked from that point on.

I'm afraid you're right.

Same here, although it was a regular theater. Don't know whether it was my first movie, but it's the first one I remember. Hey, my dad took me and my brother to that so maybe I should use it in the "fond memories" thread. o_O

Pump the brakes on Star Wars meaning less to younger generations. I'm of said younger generation and love Star Wars.

When I was 8 or 9, they released the re-mastered trilogy on VHS ('97 or so), and my parents got it for me. Pretty much every Saturday morning that year, I'd wake up early, grab a pop tart, and head to the basement to watch one of the three on surround sound until the rest of the family woke up. I've been obsessed ever since

You still cut your teeth on the OT. Speaking about the children today

I hate the fact they tossed the whole EU out the window. Hard to reprogram your viewpoints after so many years of reading the novels

I think Boba Fett could make an interesting standalone movie. I really like the character, but at the same time, he doesn't really do much in the original trilogy. I would really like it if there was a movie where he really earned the love that most Star Wars fans have for him. Of course, the prequels prove that giving a character more to do doesn't always work out for the best, but I'm hoping that they do a solid job with whatever movies come out in the next few years. I went from really hesitant to really excited on Episode VII so if that is as good as I hope, then I'll be on board with the standalone movies.

I just hope Eps 7-9 aren't like Eps 1-3
I read an interesting article (too lazy to find it) about introducing a new fan to Star Wars movies by watching them in an alternative order. The idea is not new, but the version I read was interesting because it completely omitted Episode I. IIRC, he made a compelling argument that nothing learned there was useful for understanding the rest of the movies, plus you could avoid Jar Jar Binks and discussions about midichlorians.

[Edit:] Okay, it was the first search result in Google LOL. The author gives two approaches but calls the one without Episode I "Machete Order."

First suggestion: IV, V, I, II, III, VI
Machete: IV, V, II, III, VI

Here's the link

Yeah, I've known about the Machete order for a while but I've never actually tried the order. I listen to a podcast called Movie Fights and the topic was "How should you watch them, release order, chronological or machete?" and the guy arguing for machete made a very convincing case. Might have to try it at some point. I usually go OT or all chronologically. You can't watch the OT and then say "Bring on the prequels!"
