How did you come up with your poster name?

My original name was a joke my best friend played on me. He helped me sign up since he is tech savvy and chose my name as a joke, but it seemed to offend a few peeps and Prince was going through his weird name change thing so..

TPFKAPFS = The Poster Formally Known As PFS (mods don't like the rest, lol)

Now, I really wanna know what "PFS" stood for

I grew up in a great era as a lot of us did. I had my Tar Heels where my Grandfather was a professor and in charge of the psychology department. My uncle, cousins me were all Tar Heels. My loves were UNC, Michael, Dan Marino, Great White Sharks and Van Halen. The name of Van Halen’s studio in back of Eddie Van Halen’s house was named 5150. 5150 is the police code for somebody that’s crazy or flipped out. So Heels5150. I’m crazy about our Heels

My employer in the ‘70’s!
Loved going to Troll's! Still have a T-shirt with your avatar on it from when they sponsored our softball team. Miss those days. Watched the Heels stomp Loyola-Marymount (I think) in the NCAA tourney when everyone thought they were gonna blow us out.

Chose my user name because my last name starts with a J and I got my PhD from UNC. My buddies call me Dr J.

Back when this free board was a separate entity elsewhere as Tar Heel Recruits (iirc), I was a member on yet another free board (board A). Some stuff got stirred up and several posters bolted to Tar Heel Recruits and were there rehashing some things that happened on board A. So I decided to join over at board B (Tar Heel Recruits) and since I thought the stuff behind the split was mostly soap opera nonsense I joined Tar Heel Recruits incognito as "soap". When that board was (purchased?) and incorporated into Rivals and renamed Tar Heel Radar I had to "join again" and the "soap" name was already taken by some jerk who had never even posted once after 5 years or so at that time. : )

I didn't want to abandon the soap name, so I (too quickly) joined as "soap - new and improved". You can't make this stuff up. Well, I guess you could, but why would ya?!!?

Played SS in baseball, I guess rather well at times.;) Older friend stated calling me Whizard after Ozzie Smith. I am a Reds fan, preferred Barry Larkin. Whiz just stuck though.

Life long Heels fan from Elizabethtown , NC.
Still can't believe that the internet has not reached Elizabethtown and Bladen County !
I assume that is why no other E-town Tar Heels fans are on this site.

Played baseball, coached baseball for over 30 years, umpired every level from Little League to D1, now I book umpires for showcase tournaments. All my life it seems I’ve been going To The Diamond. I put it on my license plate & there’s only room for 8 characters so I left out the A.

I overheard 2 older guys after playing basketball in my Asheville neighborhood say that they were going home and listen to the Carolina basketball game after dinner, 12/31/1966 so I decided I would do the same. Heels played Ohio State and won 82-69 I believe it was. Bill Curry the Mouth of the South was the play by play man and he painted such a picture in my imagination with his eloquent play calling that I was hooked and in love, it was so vivid in my brain. Then in 71 Woody Durham took over after Bill left for Pittsburgh. So started listening to Curry, then Woody on Radio!

To tantalize even more:

PFS = Phil Ford "S"

My best friend knew The legendary and incomparable Phil Ford was my favorite and IMO the greatest Heel ever so he incorporated it in my nickname. I used the original handle here and at the site this one came from for years, lol. (mostly because I did not know how to change it and didn't want to start over my post count) It became a problem for a few here because they thought it disrespectful to Ford. (full disclosure, it could be read that way)

Go Heels!

Well I have to say this ends an occasional thought I had - That the letters stood for The Player Formerly Known As PFS. No UNC player with those initials ever jumped out at me, and I never took the time to really look into it. Oh well, the real story is pretty entertaining anyway.

Playing for the Heels has been a lifelong dream of mine that alas, will never come true! The closest I can come is I used to play pick up with players outside Granville and in the gym! MJ actually dated a girlfriend of mine and I am such a UNC fanatic, I was more interested in seeing the swag he gave her than being concerned we dated her at the same time lol!

The Outer Banks is relatively flat. The town of Duck has several neighborhoods that were built on natural vegetated sand dunes. The plat for our home indicates that the top of our driveway is 39 feet above sea level. By the time you take 33 stairs to the top floor and step out on the deck, you've got this panorama- Atlantic Ocean, Currituck Sound, 360 degrees of Carolina blue sky. I count my blessings daily!

I bet it is truly amazing. I clicked on your link for Duck City, you are OUT there man!

Closest I have been in years is an occasional peek at some Outer Banks webcams. I keep thinking about taking a trip to OBX but just never seem to do it.
