So one of you that knows the inside of the business please tell me now that EC has entered the portal is he allowed on campus? Is he allowed to attend classes if he ever did? If the kid for whatever reason doesn’t want to attend UNC then I don’t want any of my UNC contributions to go for his housing, classes, and whatever else he receives from the University. This has become a business and frankly if you don’t want to be here or are not wanted by the management then get your a__ out of Chapel Hill.

Entrance into the transfer portal does not revoke current academic enrollment. All financial settlements regarding things covered by scholarship (housing, tuition, etc) was likely handled before the semester even started.

As far as access to athletic facilities afforded to other members of the team, idk. I actually can't think of a reason why he wouldn't be allowed as he never "quit" the team, nor has any transfer taken place. Nor would a transfer be effective until a subsequent term/semester.

Appreciate your comments and insights. Something wrong though if a player who wants to move on is benefitting from my monetary contribution to UNC which by the way is not a small sum.

He entered his name in the transfer portal. He didn't get arrested. If it's that important, and you're voluntarily contributing such a substantial endowment, maybe ask wherever you drop off the check every year.

I have no firsthand knowledge of the NIL dealings but I would guess it would depend on the the term specified. If a player accepts an NIL deal for a particular season he has fulfilled his end by completing that season. By entering the portal he would not be entitled to future NIL benefits from UNC but is owed for the current season. If you prepay for a one-year gym membership and then tell them with 2 months left you are not renewing for the next year it does not impact what you are entitled to for those last two months.

Without taking a poll, I am sure most don't like Deion Sanders, but he feels the same way. If EC is unhappy, then cut this dude off now! If he is just exploring which I think he is, then let that dude breathe. Like EC, but at his current progression he may not even be able to play overseas. His best place is UNC, and no we should not lace him with crazy NIL money that would be wasteful.

FTR: I absolutely love Deion Sanders! But I must have missed what he has to do with EC.

When players tested the waters during their JR years, we didn't feel this way even though everything mentioned applied then too. If EC is unhappy or uncomfortable at UNC, he should follow the rules of the game and transfer to where he wants to. I believe it would be unethical and most likely against the rules to "cut him off." As long as he doesn't trash UNC on his way out, he will remain Family in my book! I really hope he ends up returning, but if he doesn't I will not feel angry or like he did something wrong!

Way to focus on the really important part. If you've pretended up until now that every dollar you donated went to something you would specifically would endorse then keep pretending. If not, stop donating.

Yep. I'm guessing if one did some light digging they'd find a few things to take more offense to their money going to than a kid following the rules.

Scholarships are year to year for both the school and the player I believe, every year the school can choose not to offer it for the upcoming year. What he intends to do next year has nothing to do with his agreement for this year. I fail to see how someone planning to move on the next year would violate a one year agreement, and void access for the year which he has fulfilled the agreement fully to this point of the school year.

As stated, he feels the same way as previous poster about players once they enter portal. Does it connect now?
