I know it's very hard to get back there let alone win it but I think there could be a slight recruiting uptick in the coming years and I think Roys chances of winning 1-2 more before he retires is pretty good. That would give him 4-5 rings not to mention padding the other ridiculous numbers. What say you?

I'd say he probably gets at least 1 more. If everyone other than Jackson that can return, does return - and we get Knox, we'd be a top 2-3 option to win it all again next year.

I think 2 is a good number. I expect we will get 8-10 more years and that our recruiting will trend upwards consistently. The good news is, Roy has proven he can win more then anyone else even if recruiting doesn't recover!

If he gets 1-2 more, it will be hard to argue he isn't the best ever!

I hope every year each team has "an attitude"..we are not just playing to win,but we play to win it all !!...you hate us/you label us, but you will respect us...I read RW comments that he felt his integrity/character is attacked...how do you silence such critics?..it trickles down-UNC, BB Coaches, the players, the alums, the fans..we ain't 'fraid of nobdy, c'mon

It looks like he targets every 3-4 years, or at least it works out that way. I'll say 1 title with 3 more Final 4s.

I would set the over/under at 0.5

Not really knocking Roy but he's older now and I'm guessing the last 4 years or so took a lot out of him.

I'd be surprised if he gets more than one. That would mean we're absolutely rolling and are pretty much playing at Duke early 1990 level where final fours were the norm.

Shocking that you choose to be the negative Nancy! Ridiculous claim that it takes a puke like roll (what ever that means since we looked pretty good lately to me) to get 1-2 more FF in 10 years!

I'd be surprised if he didn't get at least 1 more!

I think 1 more would be about it. The game has changed, so keeping a group together to win multiple isn't likely. He also won't coach forever. If he gets another one and it takes 4-5 years, he may decide to go out on top too.

At UNC, Roy averages one Title every 4.7 years (round to 5) and a Final Four every 2.8 years (round to 3). Roy is 66, the same age Dean was when he retired. Dean told Roy not to walk away too soon, so I think he coaches another 5 years (assuming health is ok).

That would mean another Title is within reach with the possibility of a couple of Final Fours. Roy tends to do things in cycles too. He went to Final Fours in 1991 & 1993, 2003 & 2005, 2008 & 2009....and again in 2006 & 2017. So, he could get a couple of Final Fours and one Title realistically.

I don't see a wholesale change in him, so he will likely still build class to class...with loyalty to upperclassmen. If he can get a one and done type of talent here and there (or kids leave after 2 or 3 years) his classes will cycle quicker.

gotta imagine Jalek coming in with Uncle Ray Ray in his ear...possibly mentored by Berry-we won't lack for leadership and drive for nothing less than...falling confetti !...the rumors and jealousies won't stop but I expect UNC( the incoming frosh that will play from game to game) will be ready to butt heads with anyone once the Big Dance rolls around...a top 4 seed at least-we can make it back..a mini dynasty

He's a dic*, and I'm being nice.

RW will win at least 1 more, and if we can get maybe 7 more years out of him, that number greatly increases to 2.

At some point in the next 3 years or so , Roy is going to wake up and look at the grand kids and say "wow ...how did they get this old and I have missed a lot"......I will be happy...no ecstatic with 1 more NC.

I think we repeat next year (depending on who comes back) and again in the next five years. I think he could bring home three more with a little bit of luck. It's easy to forget how easily he could have 5 or 6 already.

I don't see a repeat next year. We are going to be REALLY thin on the post....even if Bradley returns. Losing Jackson will be a bigger blow than some think. Losing Meeks and Hicks (SR post guys) will be hard to replace.

Our "best case" line-up looks great (Knox coming), but still leaves some questions at the post. Our worst case looks really challenging....and somewhere in between doesn't win a Title.

Best case....

PG - Berry/Woods/Platek
SG - Pinson/Felton/Williams
SF - Knox/Pinson/Robinson
PF - Maye/Knox/Pinson
C - Bradley/Huffman/Maye/Manley

Potential case....

PG - Woods/Platek/Felton
SG - Felton/Williams/Pinson
SF - Pinson/Robinson/Williams
PF - Maye/Pinson
C - Huffman/Manley/Maye

I'm almost positive that Bradley will return. Most are in agreement that he is just testing the waters and finding out what he needs to work on.

Berry coming back is the biggest key imo. This team would have a lot of guys back who know what it's like to win in March and April, and that can be a huge advantage.

If Luke continues to develop over the summer he will be a nightmare to defend. And I think Bradley will be back and a beast for us next year.

You forgot to add Brooks to the "best case scenario!" Now it is not so thin.

JB and TB coming back are the keys to another special season. The development of peeps like 7th, Maye, KW, BRob, and TB might also create a dadgum strong team without the addition of Knox.

I feel very optimistic at this point and I have not seen one credible thing to be negative about yet!

True, but I doubt he comes if Bradley and others are there. Maybe I'm wrong. It all depends on what Berry and Bradley do.

You may well be right, but the best might as well be the best, lol. There are grad transfers out there too and this is why I am confident we will field a very strong team next year no matter how the Knox, Brooks, JB, and TB saga play out.

I would love to have Knox added to JB and TB to be clear!

Very true, and if the dice roll our way in the "common sense" department. America will have to deal with a 3 straight title run on the Hill.

It's very hard to get back to the Final Four. I will say 1 more title, but I hope it's within the next 3-4 years.

Getting a #1 seed is the key.

If he can convince this next group he has coming through to work on banging the glass for those putbacks He may get back to the title game sooner than you think.

I agree. We've been among the national leaders in rebounding the last 3 years. It's the primary reason we played in BTB title games. I've always believed that rebounding is one of the most important stats in basketball. If Tony returns, we know he can rebound. We know Luke and Theo can rebound too.

The key to our freshmen bigs earning PT is showing the ability to rebound and score on put backs. I think Huffman can do that from day one.

I think we need to think how much longer does Roy coaches first. If he were to coach 10 more years, then I would say we get 1 more and maybe 3 final fours.

If he coaches less, and I am inclined to believe that will be the case, I dont see another one coming soon. Roy has been put through the wringer the past couple years and it has taken several years away from his time left to coach. If he were to retire in the next 4 years I wouldn't be shocked in the least. I am prepared for him to retire, much more than the ton of bricks that fell on me when Dean announced his retirement.

I hope for many more of course, but my common sense tells me different.

Well he said he wanted to coach 5-8 more years last year right? So I estimate he coaches another 4-7 years.

Given that timeline, 1 more title would be fantastic. 2+ means we'd be the dominant program of the 21st century so far. I'd take that of course. :D

1 more in 8 years I'd be ecstatic. 2 more before he retires would be unrealistic but it could happen.
