Hubert Davis…RESIGN

Hubert, you are a nice guy but you absolutely suck ass as a head coach. Good riddance once the UNC brass grows a pair and tells ol Roy thanks for the insight but it was a disaster from the jump. Unfortunately we still have a few years before this happens I believe and we’ll delve farther into mediocrity. NIT NIT NIT
The NIT will be our new normal. Hopefully the arrogant alum are happy with their product just to keep it in the family.

Probably best if Roy actually lets an AD do the job he’s hired to do instead of picking his unqualified buddy to be the coach.

year 3 with Hubert appears to be more of the same, if not worse based on what our roster will likely be.
And if so, we'll still being hearing the same excuses (Roy's guys, Only been X amount of years, blah blah Dean Smith in effigy, etc.),

BUT with the added bonus of being told to put all our hopes in the class of freshman and Hubert Davis. Assuming that class even makes it on campus.

LOL. Welcome to NuNC Basketball

Roy:
2010 - 108th in offensive efficiency - Missed NCAA tournament
2020 - 66th in offensive efficiency - Missed NCAA tournament, finished under .500
2021 - 56th in offensive efficiency - 8 seed, one and done, 18-11 overall

Hubert:
2022 - 17th in offensive efficiency - Runner up
2023 - 61st in offensive efficiency - Missed NCAA tournament

Don't make it sound like Roy turned chicken shit into chicken salad.

Wow. except you purposefully left out the part where:
A) one of those Roy years was after losing over 80+% of his starting lineup and scoring to the draft. Compared to Hubert losing one guy and turning into
B) the other two were TWO YEARS BEFORE HIS RETIREMENT. Among other factors beyond his control.

You are so consistently full of sh*t that its no wonder you keep spewing it. Why even bring up those Roy years like we all don't remember the context, you disingenuous clown.

All you people can do is pull up Roy's and even Dean's lowest lows (God knows there aren't that many) all to dress up Hubert's inexperience and current incompetence as "par for the course". Pathetic of you and everyone else who drags our HOF coach's name through the mud just to prop up his unprepared crony.

Also Roy:
2005 - 33-4, ACC Regular Season Champion, Championship
2007 - 31-7, ACC Regular Season Champions, Elite Eight
2008 - 36-3, ACC Regular Season Champion, Final Four
2009 - 34-4, ACC Regular Season Champion, Championship
2011 - 29-8, ACC Regular Season Champion, Elite Eight
2012 - 32-6, ACC Regular Season Champion, Elite Eight
2016 - 33-7, ACC Regular Season Champion, Runner Up
2017 - 33-7, ACC Regular Season Champion, Championship
2019 - 29-7, ACC Regular Season Champions, Sweet 16

Also Hubert:
JV Championship (?)

If you're comparing this team to Roy's good teams just because this team is old, then good for you. I'm strictly comparing when Roy's teams had bad offenses because this team had a bad offense. I strictly picked the years Roy's teams ranked outside the top 50 in offensive efficiency because that's where Hubert's team ranked this year.

No kidding Roy had more success than Hubert and is a better coach than him. lol. My point is maybe it's the players more than the coach. Unless you think Caleb and Leaky are good. If that's what you think, we simply disagree.

Are you joking? You're the one who brought up Roy and Hubert in the first place, as you usually do lmao.

And It wasn't "the players" in 2010 since much of that team turned into title contender almost 2 years later. See what a difference two years actually makes under a competent coach? Why even bring up 2010 if you're just talking about these players? 2010 has no bearings over this team. Or even 2020 for that matter?? i only see two players left from that roster. Lol stop trying to backpedal.

You have repeatedly tried to paint this current roster as "Roy's guys" (as if Hubert has no control over this team's roster), but sans Leaky and Bacot he only had this core group for only ONE YEAR as Freshmen. You can slander Roy if you want, but can you name me the last Roy rookie class where he failed to give them even a modicum of development by the time they were juniors and seniors? It's been two years and they range from the same team to even worse than they were when they first got here, except for maybe those 5-6 post season games overall. That is a HUBERT problem. Not a Roy problem.

Jung, a little selective aren`t we? What about all the years in between your selective years? You are a damn FEF. (FISH-EYED FOOL!!!!!

not going to happen after this year but it’s inevitable with our refusal to accept an NIT bid. we better start lining up our next coach. Hubert is on his last leg.

If Coach Davis was fired what do you think the number one class in 2024 would do? Let me tell you in simple terms: They would all go to a different school…

What's more important for sustained success? A good head coach or one recruiting class?

Pretty sure if we made the right hire, we'd have plenty of kids lining up to play for them and wear our shade of blue.

Clearly Roy was not the same after the great bunch that show,d have won it all in 2008 and did win it all in 2009 left. He did get most of it back for a few years but there was a definite down turn at the end of his career.

And that final down turn is the most obvious reason that you do not let Roy pick his replacement from off a staff that was no longer truly getting it done.

It was the team that decided against the NIT, not Hubert.
That's like making the point that it was not Dad but his kids who voted downs the idea of the family helping at the church's soup kitchen during Lent.

Dad is to lead, not allow kids to vote on things.

now we’ve got he said she said mess with some saying players voted, others saying Hubert decided himself. Hubert, you need to resign. You have completely embarrassed the program in less than 2 years and show no signs of the ability to right the ship.

100% he's got to go.

if most of the players didn't want to go, hubert was right not to force them. if their hearts weren't in it they would just bring more embarrassment to the program.
If someone were paying my way for college (and then some), I’d be jumping whenever they say jump.

If Hubert needs to go then so does shi*face. At least Hubert took us to the finals in his first year. Dook and all their five stars couldn’t help on shi*head do the same. They even had the easiest bracket especially after the upsets.

Expectations at UNC is to win, do we want that expectation go away? If fans lay off of the team, I can promise you 20 win seasons will be few and far in the future.

This team went from preseason number 1, with 4 or your top 5 returning, we are UNC we are suppose to at least have two more Future stars coming in, and we layed an egg!

Everyone should have more going on than Carolina basketball, but for a fan like me of the Heels, I have basically boycotted the first round of the tourney, because I still can't understand why UNC layed an egg, We can beat every team playing right now. SMH.

I think it’s obvious that this team is not as good as everyone believe them to be.
The preseason number one designation was based on a run that they had over the last 6 weeks of the 2022 season. Prior to that they were highly inconsistent.
In our tournament run, we played flawlessly, except for those last 10 minutes against Baylor. Caleb‘s hero ball saved us against UCLA. Then we got lucky with an easy match up in the elite 8 game… Typically a place where even great Carolina teams go to die (Dean Smith suffered many tough E8 losses).
The Duke final four when was a signature one for the ages… and then we blew the largest lead in the national championship game.
I don’t think this was ever equipped to be a #1 team.
I feel bad for these kids. They’re never gonna overcome this because none of them really have a bright basketball future. I hope for their emotional well-being’s, they going to on to better things…or some come back to UNC to leave a better legacy.

the dumpster is still on fire. Hubert, save us all the trouble of another season of mediocrity (at best) and resign. Do what's best for the university and move on.
